Shorter days, longer nights ?

Hi guys,

I'm about 3 weeks into flowering. Lights at 12/12, indoor DWC. 2 x 400 W HPS...

Its spring here and temps gonna start rising soon so my lights are on from 6 PM to 6 AM. The space between my lights and plants is pretty limited and I am having a tough time keeping the ladies away from them. It's an every day kinda battle.

So I thought about perhaps shortening my days to maybe 10/14 cycle. Thought this might help keeping my temps more constant and under better control and also might reduce the stress on the tops of the plants... Dont care about electricity.

Would like to try keep them from foxtailing if possible...

Any advice ? Any negative affects this change might have ? Would it mean additional time in flowering ?

Thanks

Bend them down or supercrop them to get them farther from the light.

I only use 10/14 on pure sativa's to get them to start flowering faster.

How are you exhausting your lights? Are they in sealed hoods?

Yes, sealed goods attached to extractor fan... they not very strong fans though so not cooling the bulbs off as efficiently as I would like...

I am super cropping and using weights to bend them away from the bulb but it's still pretty hot and quite a mission doing it almost every day... but it is what it is. Not complaining.
