in natural/organic soil grows the most important thing is not having the correct balances of npk and micronutrients.. just make sure they are there in some amount. and that u have diversity in your soil life (microbes).. which with worm castings, guano and humus and such, u will. then give em some carbo (molasses, sucanat, etc..) once a week to feed the soil bacteria.. because u arent really directly feeding the plant when ur doing proper organics. ur feeding the soil bacteria, which break everything down in the soil into a usable form for the plant, then the plant eats that. humic and fulvic acid help with the uptake of that which has been broken down. the only difference is humic acid has a ideal ph range, where fulvic acid functions across the whole ph spectrum.

i think a great idea would be to brew a tea with just molasses, worm castings, alaska humus, a tablespoon or so of azomite, yucca extract and humic/fulvic acid.. and dose the plants with that once a week.. and then stop for like the final couple of weeks of flower.. that will ensure your plants are thriving in their soil and using eveerything to their maximum potential.. i would do this except i just do not have the time anymore to do so. using unchlorinated water will be ideal if its easy for u to do so, but if u cant its not fully necessary.. results will be good regardless.

i have a round about 4-5 weeks into flower right now. ill take some pics right around harvest time. let me know how its working out for u guys.

i have been far too busy to go to the store to get more sucanat, so ive had to substitute with earth juice hi brix instead since i had a bottle lying around. seems to work well, the plants are very very sticky/oily feeling early on. but im running 4 new strains also this time so i cant say if its the hi brix or just the strains. but they are very full thick buds and have explosive growth. very smelly.
im just using 5ml of hi brix instead of the 4 tsp of sucanat.
I purchased the sucanat but I have earth juice hi brix from a previous run. Which would you use if you had both? I have an auto-flower(Freebie) that is about 45 day in(in addition to my other plants) and its pretty sticky, smelly when I touch it. Figure I have about 3-4 more feeding/waterings left.

Also, sorry to be a pain man.. with my other plants, im going to flower within the next week or so, how much growth do you remove before? I know you mentioned 50% before but do you chop fan leaves off too? Mine are pretty bushy and am running 2,000 watts w/ 10 plants total.

I have some more questions (surprise), regarding granular vs powder:

Silica, powder or granular to prefer?
Humic Acid, powder or granular?
Dolomite Lime, granular or powder?

well.. i think i like the hi brix better overall. but i think the hi brix /molasses can leave a residual taste if u dont stop using it for the last 2-3 weeks of flower.. where sucanat u can use until the end. i think hi brix makes the bud seem more oily during flower.the bud also sort of smells like molasses whle using hi brix. sucanat maintains the natural smell of the bud 100% when u use it.

i dont think it matters if an additive is granular or powdered. i use powdered potassium sulfate, powdered azomite, powdered dolomite lime.. but if i had the option (which i grabbed what was most easily available) id probably choose granular for a soil mix because granular takes longer to break down and be used up than powder. so for a soil mix that is meant to last 10 weeks .... but it doesnt matter.

if ur 45 days in id just use sucanat thru the end. i like the hi brix early mid flower.. and sucanat late flower if i had both available. ill probably force myself to the health food store across town here very soon as im around the same time frame u are.

yeah i strip the whole plant below 50% even fan leaves. and ill top it also at the same time. right on day 1 of 12/12

dont take off main branches if the top of those nodes is high on the plant, just strip it so the energy is used at the top of the plant.. and i top it because the plant will take off and double or triple its height with all the energy going toward the top. the first week or 2 of flower while its transitioning itll explode in growth, and u wont lose any weight by topping before the transition.

i sometimes take up to the bottom 3/4 of the plant off.. just leaving the top 25%.. u will get really really fat dense buds up top with no larfy pieces below. when u do 50% u still get a little larf on the bottom, but i just use that to make hash oil.

theres such a small amount of humic acid in the mix i dont really think its doing much, but i use liquid karma, so i dont bother adding more i think the liquid karma does a much better job on a weekly basis as far as humic acid than adding more to the soil mix in granular form. my humic acid is granular by the way. i use down to earth brand and thats how it comes.

i did go water only on the last 2 weeks last time and people commented that the flavor was a little better than when i went sucanat/liquid karma/hygrozyme till the end. its still good either way was the concensus, but just saying did hear a couple of reaction/comments as to the flavor of the same strain being a little more pleasant.. i vaporize so its all good regardless.

not required to feed during veg.. the roots organic soil carries them thru..
they start in the ez cloner.. after roots pop, they go into a plastic red cup from costco. after a week or 2 they go into a 6inch mesh pot.. after another couple of weeks they go into a 3gal pot.. each time i just transplant into plain roots organic soil. i do however sprinkle layers of mycorrhizal granules each time i transplant. usually 2-3 layers thru the soil. so since the next pot size is bigger than the previous, the new soil u are adding is enough to feed it for a few weeks with just water only.

then right before i transplant from 3gal pot to the 7gal flowering pot, i fill it 2/3 of the way with super soil.. put a layer of xtreme mycorrhizal granules, and put the plant (which is in the 3gal pot) on top of that.. and fill the little bit of space on the side with just plain roots organic soil.

you can do water only during flower if you want, but i found better results using the liquid karma, sucanat and hygrozyme all through flower.. no flush, nothing.. just dose em once a week with the additives, and chop when ready.. no need to stop with the additives it does not leave any residual and does not negatively affect the flavor.
total newbie question here, but why not just go from the costco cup to the 7g pot? is that a bad idea?

also, what does fading (toward the end of flowering) refer to?

great thread, btw. thanks for the detailed recipe.

u can. but transitioning slowly allows the root zone to fill out completely, where if u go from a small cup to a big pot the roots tend to grow out then down.

fading means the leaves start lightning at the end, indicating all the nutrients have been nearly used up. aka a clean final product with no residual.

i pulled this round a week ago and i think its the best one thus far. the earth juice hi brix seemed to do really well. i did the last nute feeding on day 42 and chopped on day 63. really oily and frosty and stinky. how'd things turn out for those of u that were trying the mix?

I got great results from my first run with the mix, also my first real harvest as well. However, I am just running the mix and none of the additional teas/liquid nutes, just straight RO water with some CaMg added and that's it. Great results, thanks for sharing the recipe...it's worked very well for me! I think the only thing I may add in the future would be some organic brown rice, apparently it really helps the beneficial microbes thrive but won't affect the composition of the mix. Thanks again for sharing!

Sweet how much did you yield? Can we see any pictures of those frosty oily and stinky buds? =) I just harvested my first grow a week ago also, awesome feeling smoking your own product!

I mixed my first mod. supersoil a couple of days ago also, I think the cooking has begun, when I open the cooking can I feel an earthly refreshing smell. I´m growing 2 MK-Ultras right now in Soil with chemical fertz. I had some nutrients over so did want to use as much of it as possible before switching to organics. Will start with the supersoil after these are done, I reckon the mix will be cooking really good for about 2-3 months until its time. The Ultras are actually 1 day old right now, so cute.

not sure on the yeild.. i dont weigh em anymore after i trim. i just jar em up. i use large mason jars which hold about a qp give or take. most of the strains ive decided to keep will fill 2 mason jars. so an estimate would be no less than 6oz a plant.

i did have a low yielder this time that only did 1 mason jar. i think it was abou 3-4 oz. but the quality is amazing, but it spits out small buds with the exception of the very tip tops.

i will try to get a few pics of them up soon. times have been so busy lately

My product is awesome! I'm just for one reason or another really bad @ curing! I think I put them in jars way too soon but IDK it's only been like 1-2 weeks I can't remember. But the product was much more frosty than my first run the smell was good while they are alive but now they smell like hay and bullshit. The smoke is SUPER SMOOTH and I didn't use any nutes. Also I'm an idiot and grew a bagseed with my genetics and well the bagseeds hermed and I got about 1000000000000000000000000 seeds. So all together a terrible run BUT I do have bud that is much better than the local shit and It's mine! AND Jesus loves me AND thank you very much for this and I've got another batch cooking right now. Can a batch be too dry? I know it can be too wet but mine is not too wet for damn sure but it might be too dry. It has been going for about 2 weeks and the fish smell is gone and it smells hella earthy so I'm assuming it's working. I like not having to mix nutes but I got some liquid karma and all that other shit you said @ the beginning! I water with the runoff water from the dehumidifier!

that sounds genetic. since it was bagseed it probably was mediocre genetics. and hermi weed tends to not smell so great also. but hey u got herb to smoke thats better than whats around and u gained the knowledge and experience so once u get some good genetics u will be golden. midgrade seeds are better than no seeds if thats all u have.

Are all of those measurements in the recipe based on weight (grams)? I ask because 200g of azomite seems like a lot when the original recipe only calls for 1/8cup

sidewing

Well-Known Member
Yes. That's why it's modified the original didn't use enough of something so important. Very hard to use to much azomite. The plants will take what they need.

Yea I was pretty certain it was genetics on the bagseed. I knew better when I did it cuz I grew bagseed with some good genetics and bam I got got. But you're right! I just got a new bulb, tent, and t5 2' with 4 bulbs. So I'm happy!
