sexing a mother plant?

I got a room full up with about 20 plants wich are all now 14+ inches. Ive just turned lights to 12 and 12 a couple of days ago. i want to keep two of the plants for mothers when i see they are female then put them back under 18 hours in a different room.

Is this realy a bad way of getting female mothers. just read somewere it might hermi it from stress.

not the best way but you have already changed the lights so it dont matter now, also if you want after you identify the females you can take clones from the one you pick and not choose to re veg just grow the clone to be the mother. It will be ready probably faster than the one you picked anyway because it only has to catch root then take off growing. It will be ready to take cuttings by the time the original batch is ready to harvest. Clones taken first week of flower are fine

That is a good idea. I have idetified 8 out of 20 plants as females. So i think i will take 2 cuttings from 2 of the best looking plants and use them as mothers.

Im struggling to tell with the other 12, the 8 females have obvious pistols. How long should i give the others before i remove the ones without pistols. i dont wanna be pollunating them.

plenty of time, they have to grow balls and open to throw pollon. I still wait for balls to form w/ autoflowers b4 I kill them.

just give them time. if you don't see balls, leave em till you do... kind of funny, when i sexed a couple of weeks ago, all the females showed in two days, the males in a week to a week and a half. pretty rare......

i took cuts from the stronger phenos when they showed pistils. and took 8 more cuts yesterday at 2wks and 2days into 12/12, reason being is some plants i took the first cuttings from not throwing nearly the amount of buds as others... all these plants will be vegged till after harvest, then mothers will be chosen dependent on flavor, high, yield.

nice, i just took 3 bubblegum clones and 3 chronic off the females in my flower room hopefully to get one good mother from each strain.

Good idea cause now i have 2 extra plants to flower.

Just out of interest is the ratio of male to female generally 50/50? in unfem seeds.
