setting up my soil.

well, the ph is at about 5.8 when I put the freshly mixed soil into container, this is the ph of the first runoff. I drain it then water it again, and the next morning I check the ph and it's near 8.

I did put some lime in it, is it the lime dissolving that is causing ph spike? I'll keep flushing it.

any suggestions? is this normal for ph to change after flushes? thanks.

also, I want the ph of the mix after a few flushes right? not the very first ph? thanks.

u might wanna get a hydroponic test kitt to test the ph of the water u use i checked mine an it was 8.0 very high so i add ph down and u should do that all the time to keep stable ph

right, I was flushing with distilled water that had a ph of 6.

It musta been the lime. I just added more of peat and some other acidic soil. and so far it seems more stable. had to of been the lime. was just weird it was ph'ing at about 6 and I liked that but then after waiting an hour and doing another ph it was at 8. sorted though. thanks

Can anyone confirm that this stuff is as potent, talking about the lime here.. the lime is as potent as I'm thinking, After mixing more peat, it is seemingly having no effect on reducing the acidity that is surprisingly ahh funk it. I quit

When I grew in soil, I would always add one SMALL handful of Granulated Dolomite Lime to each two-gallons of soil mix. I found that the lime stablized the PH, and that's the reason I used it. Could you be using too much lime?
