Setting Up An Online Seed Site

Hey Guys,

New to this forum but been lurking for a while.

I'm currently in the process of setting up an online headshop, and it should be ready in a couple months.

I have been looking into the seed business and was wondering if anyone else in the UK had done it or had any experience. I know the merchant account for card payments might be a bit of an issue, but it there anything else or any other advice you guys can give?

Set up Paypal and hope some idiots dont ruin it for ya.

What about shipping to USA. I know it is illegal for a USA resident to purchase seeds etc. But what is the comeback on the seller if in UK. Basically, I am deciding whether to ship to USA or not. I know a lot of sites dont, but a fair few do. I'm guessing the whole Marc Emery situation has got people worried, which is understandable. But he was into more than just selling seeds. He was vocal on legalisation, was on CNN numerous times etc so I guess the powers that be wanted to make a scape goat of him.

Whats the chances of the DEA getting an extradition order on a small UK site that sells to USA, when the buyer will usually just get a letter in the post?

Or am I missing something else?

Just throwing this out there but it might not be the best idea to set up a pay pal business because you have to give all your information. I don't know if UK have social security numbers but it wouldn't be hard for someone to shut you down and then come STRAIGHT after your ass and lock you up. It probably won't happen but what if it does? All to make a few bucks off some seeds man... I considered it but the costs don't outweigh the benefits.

Also unless you have the capital to buy in bulk you won't have the ability for competitive pricing which would further detract from your sales. If your still going to go for it DO IT BROTHA! but just know that there is so much competition in the world of cannabis that you will have to protect your brand from all the bashing and downing that goes around all these forums. All it takes is a couple fanboys to say your seeds all hermie or your shit never arrives and then you got a bad rep.

Think about if you are going to guarantee their deliveries or not, attitude has to reship countless orders due to customs. If your going to honor every clients purchase than your going to need even more capital or help from seed vendors to keep things flowing.

I am setting up a proper online headshop and have capital for that as I took out a loan and I am spending a good amount on the website. Was just unsure whether to stock seeds now or later and if I am to stock it now, whether to ship to USA. I would offer guaranteed stealth shipping with an extra fee, much like other sites. I have checked wholesale prices I will get and I can compete with price as well. Maybe even better on some lines as my overheads will be low initially, and I will be able to provide freebies too.

The main issue is enough capital to have enough of the breeders and strains in stock. No way I can have that much of a big cataloges initially, as my capital will also be going on grinder, bongs, pipes etc. I guess I will stock the Top 10 breeders to start with, with top 10-20 strains from each breeder. Something like that. Will have to work it all out tonight with costings and weigh up whether it will be worth it.

Look into Bitcoin, do not use PayPal they will confiscate your funds...

No the US Gov't will not target you for mailing seeds to the US, only if they catch someone mailing you seeds for retail from the US... (as in gypsy's case, but there were other factors involved as well)

I wouldn't waste any money on bongs, grinders, pipes...I would just stick with seeds, and go with good ones (bodhi, soma, dna, dinafem, ) breed yourself if you got the cajones...

He has a point, going all genetics is where the money is. If you ever walked into a headshop in america you know that shit stays there for a long long time.

Attitude and Sea of Seeds has the majority market. It's a futile enterprise if you ask me.

2 seedbanks control the market? I find that hard to believe. Just checking the accounts for 3-4 seed banks based here in the UK and net worth showing 100k - 500k. Would mind a fraction of thar. Even Attitude and Sea of Seeds started somewhere.

I get the whole smoking accessories are a waste of time etc but just not comfortable putting all eggs in ome basket. Payment merchant closing accounts too quick when it comes to seeds.

Either way...... watch this space.

If it's not illegal where you live to sell seeds what do you have to worry about? There isn't shit the DEA can do to a UK seed bank or they'd have already done it to Herbies, Attitude, etc. People need to realize that and quit passing bum scoop. US laws are only valid in the US. If you live in England, fuck em' is what I say. I'm American but live in Europe. While living here I'm bound to the local law, not Texas etc law. Here it is perfectly legal to have an open container in the car but most places in the states it's illegal. Same concept.

Hey Bigeasy,

Thanks for the response. So what was the story with Marc Emery? He was selling from Canada to the USA right? But not charges in Canada, extradited to USA and now serving time. Plus I just wondered why soooo many seeds banks refuse to sell to USA, if there is no comeback.
