Sure but if the exhaust fan is running it will have to get fresh air from somewhere or its trying to make a vacuum so your CO2 levels would be maintained by that.
 
Maybe let the exhaust run all the time and just have the intake fan on the controller so it only kicks on if the room gets to a certain point.
 
Yes gonna run lights at night. Even in summer we have cooler nights. Well below temps in my room.

Yes mainly running the intake for fresh air co2. May get a little cooling from our climate. Although were hoping it's actually hot here this year for a change lol.

4" intake and a 6" exhaust both out through exterior wall.


I was reading DJMs thread and he was using passive exhaust. High temps and high rh, no co2. He just had intake pulling air in through filters to keep clean, it was passive exhausting through his carbon filter and out through the exterior wall.

I like this too.

@Renfro any reason to not run my room like this? seems easy? and with me wanting to keep temps and rh up for the leds, this may work in my favor?

Why?

As far as ventilation, if it works, great! If it doesn't, change it lol.

A passive intake should be 2 - 3x the exhaust area. Active intake should be matched to exhaust. Those are just standard rules.

Will it work? I dunno. You have to test it and find out.
 
Remember that high temps will generally make fluffy airy bud that looks great wet but when dry you wonder where it all went. You will want to cool the room down when the plants are ripening to make dense frosty nugs.
 
Why use a 2nd controller? or why the dehuey at night? 2nd controller would be needed because the huey would be plugged into the titan 5 for lights on purposes. As mentioned earlier, i dont think i can plug both in at the same time and run them. I plan to run dehuey at lights out, keep rh down and keep temps up. Am i wrong in thinking like this?

Ya the plan would be to def decrease temps the last few weeks of flower for sure. Im gonna try and stay in line with the VPD chart as best i can.

Ok so i need another 6" or another 4" fan so they can both match. I also have that 10" vortex...not sure where or if im gonna even use it lol....might be cheapest to just buy another 10" if that sale is still going.


hey this might be a silly question but i need to ask.

Ill have 5 plugins in the room, gonna be running high rh, should those plugins be similar to the bathroom and kitchen gfci plugs? or are normal plugs fine?

It's always a good idea for safety to have GFCI in a grow area simply because of all the water. That said I avoid them personally as they can trip for no reason (ghost trips) and thats bad if they turn off something critical.
 
I think a simple vent when the lights go off will drop the humidity really good. If you are gonna be bumping up the humidity during the day and lowering it at night then you can just put the dehu on a timer right? Then let the controller run the humidifier on a day nite setting, the nite setting would be lower.

Ya we dont need any unwanted tripping. I plan to run all plugins up the walls 3-4` or more, far enough away from any water, was more concerned about the high humidity.

Well this makes way too much sense lol. In my head i was going for what you described, but in my planning i was adding steps that werent needed lol. I get high and think about shit, very seldom am i right lol

As long as condensation doesn't drip on them you should be ok. If a vent pipe is above a receptacle and it gets cold air flowing and condenses, water could drip. so plan any intakes accordingly.

Ya that makes sense too. I will plan accordingly. I still like my idea of running my intake duct under my tables with slits in the ducting every couple feet. what do you think of this?

I have my intakes up high, I figure blow the cool air into the hot air and let it mix. I worry about the intakes being low to get cool air for a tent, but when getting outside air the pipe being low or high isn't going to change the temperature of the air it gets.

Ok that settles that, easier for me to go high with them anyway, so thats what ill do.

You see any benefit to slits in the ducting every foot or two? or just let it run out the end like normal?
 
If you wanna let the air out evenly just drill some one inch holes down the line to total the surface area of the duct diameter and cap the end. you could step up the hole size as the duct goes to make for more even flow, if you have the bits, or just put holes closer together as the duct runs. Make sure the duct isnt over anything that condensation could drip on like plants.

What were you using to cover the intake? To protect against dust and bugs and shit getting in?
