Setting up 315w cmh grow

So decided to expand my hobby a bit this winter and want to put together an indoor 315w grow. From what I understand it’s a good way to get a decent yield in a footprint of 3.5x3.5’ or so.

This is the sort of light I’m interested in. I want to get the parts together over the next 6 weeks or so.

Does anyone have experience with sunstream lights? I have read vertical presentation is better then horizontal?

I would say 3 x 3 footprint for the 315, beyond that it's really pushing it.

I am not a fan of lights that have the ballast built into the reflector. I would prefer to put my ballast outside of the tent for heat purposes. You also want a square wave ballast from what I have been told they perform better.

These are exactly the replies I am looking for, thanks for the tip about the ballast renfro.

I asked at my local grow store they said I should get a 4x4 tent for the extra room even though a 315 has a smaller effective footprint. Do you loose efficiency if the walls are not up against the effective area?

I pulled the trigger on this setup.

Sunsystems 315
Mammoth 120 pro tent
6” outtake fan + temp controller
2 clip fans

Pick it up in a couple weeks. Thanks for the reply’s
