Seriously, whats happen to weed?

I haven't smoked for 25 years (raising children and work). Now that i'm retired and the kids are gone, I've grown 3 or 4 small Auto hybrids.
Nothing smells like the stuff of the early 80's and the highs I use to enjoy, are all now massive head trips. I smoke a tiny pinch and its like a hit of LSD of the late 70's.
The strains I've grown seem to all smell like the blueberry influence and the smoke doesn't even smell like pot. Is it my age difference, is it the autos, is it the strength of the weed?
I hear of couch lock vs. sativa type of highs and so far all I can come up with is TRIP weed (really not enjoyable). I pulled a Auto with a giant cola three weeks late and the others a little early and the highs are still all the same.
The best part of smoking in the 80's, was being able to do stuff while you have a nice buzz. Now all I can do is lay on the couch and hope we don't get some kind of emergency phone call because there's no way we could mentally function. I don't know any street sellers, so I don't have anyway to compare different types, So what do think, Do I just have the wrong types of smoke?...La diva, Critical mass, big Budda Automatic:?:

For weaker pot follow the advice on growing that half these ninnies spew out here. Weak pot, low yields, bugs. Seriously though - Critical, Big Budda? Grow some sativa strains or sativa dominant strains. Screw the autos. Regular seeds will grow and flower on a straight 12/12-from-seed gig.

Oh yeah. Send me that strong stuff and I'll get rid of it for you.

Try looking at Acapulco Gold from Barney's Farm.

BTW 2 - your strains are basically sativa dominant but worked hybrids. Look for purer sativas like Panama Red like a poster below suggested.

There are a few "old-school" strains out there like freeze cheese 89 or ladyburn 1972 even panama red is out there somewhere. I agree with hotrod, ditch the autos and go with reg or fem seeds on 12/12.

Yep, took me 30+ years to get back into pot. Same here with things, kids, family and career.
Love those old school strains. Mostly Sativa back then. Now it's Hybrids and mostly Indica.
Lot of growers don't have the patience to wait an extra month or two for pure Sativa.
It's also, time is money issue.

It's the small auto hybrids. Try growing a midsize pickup ... or better yet, a luxury crossover. The seeds are marked over MSRP, but it'll be a smoother ride. cn

I remember getting off probation when i was like 15 and smoking dro with my uncle for the first time. It was some snowcap bull shit i would have never been able to find without my 22 year old uncle.. (I had been smoking reggie for the longest time) Anyway, 2 rips out of his medium sized bong and i swear on my mothers life i swore they put salvia or something in it, the trip was indiscribable... Anyway, the point is you just have to build a tollerance for the new weed man. It's definatly alot stronger than what youre used to if you havent smoked in that long.. Just keep smoking, keep it down to a hit or two. You'll get used to it just like 15 year old me did. After getting used to it i cant even get high off reggie anymore man. Just keep on keepin on, and imo auto's would be fine for you dude... They're supposed to have lower potency which would help you build a tollernce before getting some super skunk grandaddy OG kush chronic photoperiods lol

I dont fall in with this new weed as said being stronger than the weed of the late 70s.
I have smoked the red and gold columbian of 70s full of seeds and still think its just as good
or better then this new weed lol,very expansive.Who said seeds take away potency, damn sure wish
id kept some seeds but was only 17 then,but now would pay good money for some true Sativa from
Colombia.

I grow nothing but autos. Different strains give me different highs, I learned that it has nothin to do with sativa or indica for me, because my body and head can't tell the difference. So I consume different ways. Smoke goes to the head and back, vape goes to more of my lower body. And edibles give me the whole body "high" thing. I can tell you it's not the auto strains. Simply your system.


P.S. That's with the same strain I get those different effects. You gotta find out what's best for you. NO ONE can tell you that... BTW!! All the haters on autos, probably never grown them, and if they did, they grew them wrong... Lol which is pretty sad actually


And another thing. People don't relize how much the body system changes in 25 years... Because, I can garentee you no one on this thread and quit for that long. Everyone is different, I would smoke with my friends who get different effects then me with the same weed? Don't listen to these guys

agree, I use to grow Pot as we called it, back in the early 90ish back when there was no RIU or FEMI skunk seed around ..

we grew out doors and remembering back it must have been pure stavias as they grew big/high and had thin leaf`s

my best guess is that the THC was around 5-10% (10% at best, when the summer was long and sunny)
we got high but not as the +20% THC skunk that is around to day, its as strong as the best hash I can get my hands on

my best advice is to keep the Auto`s but go for a variant that is mostly stavia and harvest early, Auto`s is actually less strong then many Femi seeds around (often in the 12-18% ranges) a early harvest will also ensure you a more "high" smoke, so will the stavia traits, mix it with more tobacco and stick to joint`s

Try making edibles..they don't hit as hard as first as a bong hit. I rarely smoke..just eat a cookie or cupcake.

thinking about it, a guy who have`t smoked for 25 years "get back" so to speak and blaff a few bong heads of some nice strong indica/skunk, is doomed to hit the couch hard .. baby steps :D


and yes find the right smoke for you and your smoking habits, I don't like the stavia that much as I use it mostly as a good night medicine and don't enjoy to be high when out in social ways (unless its with my smoking friends) really high on staiv smoke in the company of a lot of non smokers don't really work well for me, if I did`t had a dry mouth I will get it ..
