Hello all,
So I've had some strains that have been a pain in my ass in terms of trying to properly train in veg before, but I have started a new citrix strain this time and this is just insane. I topped it at about the sixth node, got 4 new main top colas that were VERY close together and thus I decided to tie them down a bit in opposite directions to space them out some. This was about a week ago. First off, I'd already lost one of those main tops just while tYing down, the whole thing snapped off completely at the node. So I tried to bandage it but it appears that it is a goner (sucks). For the other three tops however, this worked out... or so it seemed.
NOW today I went back to check up on it only to find the the stems on these tops are growing so thick so quickly that the twine I used to tie them down was actually cutting deeply into the stems and severely weakening them. One was broken because of this. It's own weight combined with the damage from the ties cut it right off and it was hanging on by maybe a quarter of the stem. So I decided to cut the string off on all these top branches. All of them were weakened where tied, and then a gentle bump to another top did the same thing and it broke the same way as the other. Ughhhhh!
So now 3 of my 4 main stems seemed to be completely fucked bc this plant just will NOT cooperate with training methods (did the same thing on all my other stains and they are fine). I bandaged them with duct tape and they are put back in contact with the other ends of the stems and held up properly but I'm wondering if they will even survive. I'm worried that this plant is just kind of f#$%ed in terms of yield now bc I keep losing entire tops during training (like 2 to 3 nodes each).
That first top was really screwed and it's dead, but these tops were still hanging on by a bit of the stem so they will still get SOME nutes to them at least, but there really wasnt much left connected. It's far worse than a Supercrop, it is clear through the stem as if I took a razor blade and sliced through 3/4 of the diameter. I bandaged them pretty well and neatly with duct tape though, so maybe they have a chance?
Has anybody run into the same problem and seen the tops survive? Or are they pretty much dead at this point? This SUCKS.
I'd get photos but the bandages are in the way at this point, sorry.
