Seeling question, please help!!!

I germed 2 seeds, (nirvana blue mystic) and I just put them in the soil, I don't want to over water
to rot the root. i've spraying the top of the spoil with bottled water, is this method effective? because as soon as the soil drys out i spray more. I'm also using a 400 watt hps light.

when your soil is dry water agin then dont water till it dry again and keep repeating. in my opinion you wont over water if every time you water you let them get almost completly dry before watering again

You are better of watering them fully and not watering again until pot has lightened off, misting is ok also, and helps with humidity but don't over do it ...

id leave them outa that light till a day or 2 after they come up id just use a flouresent for first couple days

just an opinion though the hps will work fine

I grew Nirvana's Blue Mystic , attempted twice , the pheno's were so pathetic i threw them away , yet others love this strain.

you dont gotta spray it you can water it

how much should I water? they just germed they are in 5 gallon pots.

What I did is pre-water my soil with pHed water 24 hours before the germinated seed went into it. Then to help the seedling roots I let it almost completely dry out(stick clean finger in soil 1 inch and/or use cheap moisture meter) then water again. In my case using 6x6x6 square pots I had to water on day 4 then day 10. You don't want to spray the top whenever it looks dry, you want to almost starve her of water then feed her and allow a good amount of water to run out of the bottom of the container.

5 gallon pots from seed? It can be done and I'm not a big fan of the idea of transplanting 3 or more times in one grow, but you should definitely start out in a 1 gallon or less then transplant to 5 gallon a week or so before flower. I plan on using square 4 gallons in flower but I have yet to get to that point so I can't say how much water you would need for a 5 gallon. I would just say water until you see it running out of your container at the bottom, but a 5 gallon could probably hold enough moisture for a young plant for weeks. For my 6x6x6 square pots I feed them about a 3/4-1 quart of liquid.

Yeah I'm trying out in a 5 gallon, I hope it's not too hard you know? but I just sprayed a little bit and I just watered it so when I put my finger in it's moist throughtout the soil pretty much. it's only a seedling so i hope it's not too much

Don't dick around with it too much, or it will die on you or be very weak. Water it with a few cups of water every 3-4 days. If you stick your finger in the soil and it's still wet an inch or so beneath the surface you're fine. When it's dry an inch or so beneath the surface, water it with a couple of cups. The older your plants get, the more they will drink and you'll end up watering every other day.

You will be fine on the 5 gal. But just take a party cup and water for now fill it about half way and water with that. Also don't be afraid to water around the edge of your container just to keep soil from drying out cause when the seedling is a few weeks old you'd be surprised on how far the roots spread.
Main thing to think about is what she can take. If you have a lot of perlite then watering more often is fine. But just remember its just a seedling and doesn't need much water now.
I start seeds out in a party cup and water once real good and leave it for about 4-5 days and lift up to check for weight. then I just water a few ounces every other day.

I dont know about anyone else but I dont use light till the sprout pops out of the soil. I use a heat mat and cover the container with siran rap. all the lights doing is killing your soils moisture Im sure the roots love the heat but you can get that from a simple heat mat.

Having light right away is good and keeps sprout low. Think about how it is in nature light is what brings them out. Also I have done sprouts with out lights till the popped soil and they stretched more than when light was applied. And they break out of there seed shell faster and more natural it seems when a light sched is applied.

I have to agree though using a heat mat is a good idea. My climate is so cold its a must.
