Hello, I am new both to the site and the hobbie. I have resently entered the flowering stage. I have already seperated and destroyed the males 50/50 outcome on sex. 3 females remain as you may see in the attachments. I use a 400w hps around 7-13 inches from top foliage, fox farm nuts for watering ( about every 2-3 days), also use pure water for foliage spray(about every 3-4 days), the humidity is around 16%, and about 71-86 degrees F. They are in an enclosed closet open door around 2 times daily and a small fan on for 1 hour a day during the middle of the light on time. Please give advice on any thing to change or alterate. Or just your opinion on any thing Ive said or shown.

I'd leave the fan on 24/7, plants need air movement to "breathe". It's to late now but I would have topped those plants a few weeks ago, you may have to tie them down yet. Other than that you're of to a very good start.

What do u mean by hum a little? Also what exactly is to tie down....as in to litteraly tie down to slow hieght growth down? Thank you for your time,

I'm wonderin' about the hum too ? Yeah you tie the plant down into an L shape if it gets to tall for your space.

1. Get some venting that runs 24\0.
The plants need fresh air.
You'll run into rot issues later on if you keep up the way your going. And the stench should be a real problem if you only open the door twice a day to change the air.

2. Tie the crap out of your plants. Look up on LST.
You want to create a dense and even canopy, that way you'll use your lights more eficiently.

In the picture you can see one of my cabs 4 days ago. They are dense and at an even distance from the light.

Haha, Yeah Du humidity sorry. Also what are your thoughts on croping or topping the plants? As in when to do it or to not do it for any reasons. P.S. When I tie down the plants dose that harm it, in my mind i could imagin it doing harm..to bend in a L shape?

I have Been doing some research on the "Low Stress Training". I am now wondering if my plants are to old to start to tie down prosses, seeing how the stem is almost barky and very strong. Well I gess the question is will my stem begin to break or snap if I start LST now?

You generally train your plants in the veg stage, you can start lst around 3 nodes, after the stem starts to harden off, in the flower stage you want to make the less stress possible so your plant doesnt have to recover from damage and use its energy promoting node, roots growth etc. in flowering you want your plants to concentrate on the bud production.

Have you tried lowering your light 2-3 inches? seems kinda far away in your pic maybe you could add some side cfl to help the lower canopy.

400w have a good penetration for 1 or 2 feet, the leaves below arent receiving much light so next round try to keep your plants more at the horizontal and you will receive a better yield.

You should LST progressively at this stage.
Stage bending it as much as you think is safe and keep it there for 2 days.
After 2 days get it lower, and so on.

If your gentle the most you would do is to supercrop your plant (break the inner part of the stem while the outer part is still intact)
In this case you could just put it where you want to (thats what I do) but if you don't feel confident doing so just tape it back to place with duct tape and start bending another spot.

one more thing u need to air tho plants a little better and get them out of thos 5 gal buckets 4 every foot of pland it need two feet of roots so leavin then in thos buckets will couse root rot witch i bet is all ready goin on with ur plants and if u can grow in clear container so u can watch the roots as they grow as well as ur plants

Really, you think my pots are to small for the plants.. If so should I start off in a bigger one next time or just transplant into bigger ones now? P.S. Transparent pots sound like a nice idea persay, although dont the roots want complete darkness?

i have suppercroped plants much further on than those three, lst should be no problem, the rest of your set up is fine. how he is going to run into "rot issues" with a RH of 17% i think is unlikely to be a problem, dont worry about that. the problem like everyone said is the plants are stretching and need to be lst'd. it will not be a problem.

On one of my plants the budsites havent opened up, they are all close on that one plant. If you understand my description. Should I be worried about such a sign? Tried to photograph but couldn't with my low quality camera..

dont worry too much about root rot as long as u have good drainage and a well aerated medium. if theres is no air in the soil u will will notice drooping of fanleaves and yellowing starting at the tips and all new growth will come out bright green and eventually yellow. soon after plant stops growing and there is no way to recover from root rot as far as i know. but judging by wat i see u are doing fine. as far as LST goes, if the plant has a strong woody stem then bend in 30o increments everyday for three days and on the third day the top cola should be perpendicular to the soil. good luck and happy harvesting :weed:

also i beleive its a good thing to have nodes tight on the stem because it usually means u will have tall heavy stalks of bud:blsmoke:

You have been a lot of help. So I should LST it now while flowering? If so should i just bend it or tie it down with string?
