Seeds

After harvesting my seeded plant I let the seeds sit in the open air for about 4 days before I put them in a container. At that point, I seal everything up and put them in the refrigerator with the rest of my seeds. Is that enough time in the open air or should I let them sit out for longer before I store them?
I’ve tried popping some of these seeds, and none of them have worked yet, but it’s only been a week, I’ve noticed in the past that they start being really viable after six weeks, I’m wondering if I am storing them too quickly.
Any thoughts or advice would be helpful thank you so much

What color are the seeds?
If the seeds are fully developed they should be brown.......and whatever you're doing is unnecessary.

Yeah, I’m pretty familiar with the way they should look, but the brown part isn’t actually as important, the firmness is. A lot of viable seeds come out green because of that outer shell that later falls off. My question was about the amount of time that you let them sit out before you seal them up and package them for storage.
I think that part is pretty necessary unless you want them to go bad. If you say it, it’s unnecessary then OK.

I’d let em sit out a couple months probably, in a cool , dark, dry place.
For sure, I’ve always let them sit out a little longer, but this time I packaged them up after a couple days and thought maybe I had ruined it, but I can pull them back out and let them dry a little little longer
