Seeds wont crack, too early since harvest?

So I had a grow going for the last few months, 1 juicy fruit, and one bagseed. Unfortunately one of my other plants went male and my friends dad didn't catch it in time and they got pollinated. I still got a good amount of stuuupid good weed off of them. The juicy fruit was one hitter quitter in shitty soil, tap water, no nutes, and some crazy floro grow box my dads friend bought a year or two back (like 10 2 foot floro's wired to a ballast with reflective shit on the windows) that worked great. I got a SHIT LOAD of seeds from them though. Like over a hundred easily. Now I am trying to germ 10 of them and they haven't cracked in 4 days. It's never taken me more than 2 days for sprouts. Is there some idle period after they are formed and when they are ready to crack?

4 layers of damp paper towel (wetted with boiling water to kill any germs) with a plate and a bowl covering them (both sterilized) kept at about 75-80 degrees. No signs of mold or smell. Just no crack. I have always had 100% crack rate with over 50 seeds in the past.

wow that's crazy since you never had problems before. I never heard of using boiling water on them. Do you always do that?

Only to sterilize everything. When the seeds were put in it, the towels had cooled down to room temp. Yeah ive never ahd problems, but ive never tried germing seeds fresh off the plant.

Oh ok. Maybe these seed are premature? If they are it will probably take longer to germ..that's IF they do. This sucks I hope they do crack soon.

i have heard that fresh seeds off a plant need to be left for a while to dry completely before they'l germ, how long tho i donk know? Maybe they wernt developed fully before they were harvested? How do the seeds look? Are they dark or light? Tiger striped? Sometimes they can take a while to germ, up to two weeks in some cases iv heard. I normally get 100% germ rate within 3days, but thats with bought seeds, and i dont bother doin all that soaking and germing in wet paper towels, i put seeds straight from the pack into jiffy pellets, that way the tap root can grow straight down into the medium without clumsy hands messing them up. if any havnt cracked within a week i split the seed case myself by GENTLY squeezing the seed between my teeth with the seams of the seed facing up & down until i hear the crack that normally does the trick, some strains have real tough casings, the autoflowering ruderalis strains are notorious for it! :peace:

Yeah I am about ready to just put em in some pellets with some rootzone and let em sit. Actually, I will do that right now. And my little tip to people who read this, go to Ace hardware, find a plastic bag titled Root Zone, it has consistency like sand. I sprinkle a little bit at the bottom of the hole the seed is put in, and have had 2 inch sprouts (above soil) in a matter of days.
