seeds question

Hey i ordered seeds from herbies head shop, and this is my first time ordering online, i got 5 white widow seeds, its been about 30 hours and they havent sprouted there first root yet, if they don't germiniate does that mean there bad, or can i plant them if they dont germinate and will they still grow?? If not will i be able to return them, i ordered them from herbies head shop

Usually seeds germ in 24-72 hours under the proper conditions... Patience is key...

this is what i'm wondering also.. a lot of peps, myself included, will soak seeds in a cup of water for around 12 hours or so, then put them in between a moist paper towel inside of say a ziplock bag in a warm dark place for a day or two, checking on them every 12 hours or so..
with in around 24 hours or so, the seed should be cracked with the white taproot coming out of one end.. once you get this far, simply put them in your medium of choice, ie, soil, about a 1/4 inch or so down and under some soft lighting..

i put them on a plate with a paper towel on it spray the paper towel, lay another paper towel on top and spray again enough to make it damp but not to leave a puddle put the plate in a plastic bag and put it in a dark room. I put the seeds between the 2 paper towls

sounds like it should do the trick for you for sure.. how long have they been like that?? you could try and remove them from the paper towels for now and try and put them in a glass of water for a few hours or so..
the moisture from the water is a signal to the seeds that it's the right time to germinate, and they will start to do their thing.. after say a good 10 or 12 hour soak, i'd pull them out of the water and put them back the way you have them now...
or you could simply leave them as is, and place them some where a bit warmer, around 80 / 85 degrees is ideal for germing seeds.. i usually like to give them a week to ten days before i call them duds..

also, forgot to ask what breeder the seeds came from? i know that you said that you got them from herbies headshop, but i was just wondering what breeders white widow that you have??

could be.. if you have a nice warm, not too hot spot, that would be perfect for them... a lot of people will leave them on say a cable box, or a stereo, or the top of the fridge ... just something that's giving off a bit of heat, and have really good results that way.. :O

Its easier to stick then straight into the medium, power towel is a waste of time, ive killed many a seed w/ the towel

seeds like heat. with the heat comes the problem of the paper towels drying out. at this stage of a plants life, it is most susceptible to anything trying to kill it and drying out will kill it sure as shit. keep an eye on it

it usually takes about 6 days for me

I used a heat pad (for my back) and it got the soil temps up to 75F I'm sure that's why they germmed in 48 hours...bottom heat

i used a heating pad on my last germination,worked well.

I soak my beans for about eighteen hours in Pure Life bottled water. By then the shell has cracked and I can see a little white showing. I put them straight into soil about half inch down and boom! In about three days.

if you look at your seeds there is a pointy side if you give that a little rub on grit papper just to take the point off this will speed things up...i get my seeds to sprout in 6 to 10 hours this way and it works.......

As long as you can keep a close enough watch on it so that the paper towel isn't left to dry out, a gentle heat source will definitely speed things up for you. If you have access to the hot water heater or cover of your boiler/heat system, its a good place to use. Put them on a glass or china plate - a mug would work too - so that they get radiant heat thru the ceramic. If you put something over the paper towel (like a cup), it will slow the amount of evaporation of your moisture, but you still need to watch them and add some water if the paper towel starts to look too dry. As soon as you see any white from the taproots, you'll want to drop them into the soil asap. The longer you let that taproot get before you plant it, the easier it is to damage it. Fuck up the taproot, and you'll get diddly from them! In the future, a soak for six to twelve hours before you go into the paper towel will speed things up considerably as it softens up the hard outer shell of the seed and lets the taproot crack it easier.
