Seeds not germinating, help please.

Just about 3 months ago I bought a big batch of New York Power Diesel seeds, came about 40 seeds. All of them are huge seeds for what I'm used to, and are on the light colored side.
I've kept them well conserved without any moisture in the fridge at about 4 to 5ºC.
So far from the 10 seeds I've tried only ONE has germinated properly...
The seeds are incredibly hard, and white organic matter starts to squeeze out of the seed shell's crack. I reckon it must be the taproot trying to force itself out.
So I tried starificating the seeds. And all the techniques everyone does to germinate their seeds, and they never seem to crack open by themselves.
I feel like I'm just putting little lives to waste, poor things trying to squeeze through the hard shell.

Do you have any advice? Has this ever happened to you before??

Also, the seeds seem to be healthy because they are heavy and big, and they sink in water after some time...

I'm really starting to think it was a very bad investment to buy all those seeds and have none of them grow out... =(

I'm a sad guy now. Help please.

I store my seeds in a plastic container, in the dark, in my drying area, with silica gel in the container.

Also, you need to say what method you used. Also, big seeds are great, very pale seeds are often immature, (I've read) seeds with stripes are indica dominant and seeds w/ no stripes are sativa dominant.

Your next investment should be to research germinating seeds. I start w/ the cup-of-water then I use the paper-towel method. Don't let the seeds get cold (stay above 50F).

You realize that there's an "eye" on the seed that sucks in the moisture needed to soften and split the shell. It's going to take forever if you don't pregerm. Pulling water directly from the soil can take ages for a seed, unless it's kept muddy.

Paper towel method works for me every time. 1 Damp paper towel spray it with water from a spray bottle or what ever you have to spray with, not a chemical spray even rinsed and cleaned I would not trust it to be cleansed. Buy a spray bottle from DIY shop.Fold the papr towel in half then in half again. place the seed between the second fold. Sit it in a sandwich or freezer bag and sit it on top of your internet router. Should soon crack enuf.

If that is the case, the seeds are not the best quality (not even good) ! It happens ! You got to try some straight to the soil and see if they pop out !
The seeds were bad quality and you made it worse keeping them for a long time in the cold !

just wanna share my way of germinating that works (for me) all the time:

use paper towel, spray some water on it...but not too much...put the seed in and place the paper towel with the seed in a plastic bag(sandwich bag) and close it. then place that plastic bag on a router or a modem(those things keep the same temp 24/7 and the temp is perfect) open the bag every 12 hours to see how it goes. most of the time, it take 24-48 hours to see the roots...sometimes 3-4days...really depends on the seeds...i guess.

oohh o forgot to add, i never keep the seeds in a freezer or anything too cold...just place em somewhere dark and dry...no need no freezer...

i just get a cup of warm water, place seeds into cup,place the cup in my closet..temp is like 80 degrees in there,check the next day to see if they have dropped to the bottom,if not polk them down, two days later or so the tap root will be out. place them in some dirt with the tap root down and away they go...100 percent germ rate so far with this method....keep your seeds a little warmer i would think its too cold in a frig...

I've germinated seeds in all of the ways you guys have said, and I normally have a near 100% rate of germination. It's just this batch of seeds that is being very bad on me...I usually soak for 24 to 48 hours then paper towel them until sprouted. BUT none of these have popped. Even with other methods.I might just have bad seeds hey? or maybe I damaged them keeping them in the fridge?Sucks to have 30+ seeds that won't germinate =(Anyway, thanks you guys for your help!

I would say it is the fridge that damaged them seeds. What is the chances of all 30+ seeds not germinating? Very low I would say so seems to me the fridge was the issue here and not the actual seeds. Next time keep them in a bag in the drawer.

Just curious as to why Seedbanks tell us to store seeds in the fridge.AS they keep theirs in a fridge.
I keep mine in the fridge,with high germination rates.Not saying anyone is wrong here,just curious.

Yeah,thats possible.But Jad3 says he stored them @ 4-5c,which is what Amsterdam Seedbank recommend.

I had a problem germinating seeds,found some jiffy pot pellets ...all my seeds have germed since I changed ..I was using the paper towel method previously....

Thanks guys for all the interest and help. I might have damaged them from the fridge. I did it to be sure I would make them last long, and I ended up killing them =/ I'll just keep trying to germ them, but so far nothing...

I haven't tried the jiffy pot pellets since I don't have access to them here, but I have rockwool which I've never germed in (I was saving it for cloning). Do you think I should try germing in a rockwool cube?

Give them a try Jad.I use coco jiffy plugs and a heated propogater.I also put a clean jam jar over them to keep the moisture in.
100% success so far.Plant them pointed end down and about 10mm into the rockwool.

heres a bit of a radical idea but it worked for me when having problems with germination; i left my oven to heat up to a low temperature (120c), put the seeds in between 2 plates with ye ol' paper towel and water trick, let the oven cool and put the plate into it for bout 10 minutes, this makes it very humid between the plates, and the seeds should crack overnight ! be careful with this aproach as you dont want to cook the seeds, just to evaporate some water to make it really humid

I'm going to try both of those =)
