Seeds just won't germinate

Ok guys, I've had my seeds between wet paper towels for about a week.... and nothing.

will it help if I put them into hot water? do I need to store in a dark place?

also I don't have sand paper, so can't do that matchbox thing. any help would be much appreciated

could always be dud seeds bruv not saying they are some can take 2 weeks aswell i always store mine in my air cupboard its dark and warm

no 2 of them popped already(from the same pack)

I`ve done mine in wet paper towels inbetween 2 plates and just left them in a dark place.Normally for me its taken a day or 2 to pop.
I have just put 3beans a couple of hours ago in wet paper towels in a little plastic container and placed into my desk draw. Will report back tommorrow or the day after if anything happens.

tbh nial i would just put them in a draw or summat anything dark i always have done it always worked for me mate

pinch then between your fingers if they break they are dead, also it needs to be in a warm place i was germing seeds one time took a week and nothing (my house was cold) put them in my pocket one day while i had off and they literally popped that night

I had some issues, and I found some info on RIU so I will spread the love. It's a seed and its job is to sprout. Your job is to watch.

1. Take a shot glass, or small container (clean with rubbing alcohol)

2. Fill glass with distilled water

3. Drop your seeds in this water

4. Put in a dark area... I just put mine on the top shelf of the kitchen cabinent (any place in your house that is normal temps)

5. Leave said seeds in water, in this dark place 24 hours... no peeking

6. While seeds are soaking I fill up my 8oz party cups with my soil of choice and water in well. I place these in humidity dome(mist top with distilled H2o) and heat mat under tray. This way the soil is nice and warm, much like spex420's pocket .. lol

7. After the 24 hours are up I take the seeds, make a small hole about 2 seed lengths deep in the soil and place the seed in there and cover with soil. This seed is only a 1/4 inch or less into the soil.

8. Put the dome back on and keep the humidity high. I like above 80%.

9. Get real high and just sit back and watch the show.

I get 100% germ rates ( with quality seeds of course) with this method. Within 1-2 days you will see them break the soil. Once the shed their hard hats and open up the first set of leaves the dome comes off and stays off. If some seeds dont sprout right away give them some time. If they dont sprout after the 24 hour H2o dunk and 48-72 hours of 80% humidity in warm soil they may not. Just leave em for a week or better and then I would give up.

I have tried several methods of germinating and by far this is simple and effective.

I put my seeds in between wet paper towels, put them in a ziploc so the humidty stays high, and toss them in a drawer. Mine have taken anywhere from 3 days to a week, and all the seeds came from the same bud.

Update:Well after 48hrs of being in the dark in a wet paper towel 1 of 3 beans sprouted and within the next 24hrs a second bean popped. They both have been moved into cups with coco. I will leave the 3rd bean for approx a week and if I don`t see anything by then it off to the bin.

Where did you get them, they are poor quality seeds. So what if 2 germed ,the rest are garbage and even if one does sprout it will prob grow retarded.If it doesnt happen in 3 days(wet pt on heat mat) ,something is wrong.

Temps need to be at least 75 F. If they do not pop after a week take a razor/knife and cut off the pointed end without hitting the white insides. That will free the root if is going to grow at all.

Keep it simple, next time just put the seeds directly into small RW cubes that weigh 20 grams wet. Then do what works for you. What works for me is to put the cubes on a heat mat / under a humidity dome until they pop, then take the dome off. Takes 2-3 days.

If your replying to me, they are just plain ol bagseed. Out of the last 20 that have been germ`d all have sprouted(not including this 3 i`ve just done now). So out of 17 beans 1 turned to herm and 1 male. Rest were all female. Yes, they are poor quality beans as you would call them but the pecentage of female and excellent smoke is fine by me.

I`ve had good results using RW cubes aswell. All I used to do was wet the RW then in with the bean. Into a 2ltr icecream bucket with gladwrap for a dome and placed onto a windowsil. No heatmat needed. Bean usually pops and shows her head within 2-3 days as you said.
