hi ive just planted my germed seeds in soil in 10 litre buckets.wot height shud my 400w mh be above 4 wen they sprout?is there advantages startin in smaller pots then transplantin.my temps are 80 hum 45.plz help

As long as your light isn't going to burn your plants, just put it a few inches above them when they sprout.

As for "advantages" to starting smaller, I don't know but I can't imagine there would be many... I hope so though, cuz i started in party cups!

Here is what I have found so far being un-experienced. My first couple plants I went straight to 5gallon buckets. They are still hanging on, however, I have a hard time judging when to water them. My next batch, I have gone considerably smaller so I can better control the moisture in the soil and dont have to worry about my soil drying out or over-watering.
We'll see how my next batch goes..

i heard the only reason why people use smaller cups is to save space. since i only grow 2 plants at a time, i skip the dixie cups part and everything went great.
