Seedlings under 400watt COB. How high should I have the lights?

Hi everyone,

I have some freshly sprouted Casey Jones fem and Nirvana's Papaya fem under a 400watt Cob. I germ'd them in rapid rooters on Thursday (oct 27) and transplanted to 6" plastic pots yesterday (oct 30) with FFOF and 15% perlite. There was a nicely sized root poking out of the bottom of each one, as well as a single stem and leaves forming

I have this light hanging above them:
Roleadro HYG05-2X200W-W COB LED Grow Light Full Spectrum for Hydroponic Indoor Plant Veg & Bloom, 400W

How high do you think I should I have it? Right now it's at 24" but I'm wondering if that's too high. My humidity and temperature is on point, just trying to get lighting under control.

temp: 75-80F
humidity: 56-60%

I was hoping that wouldn't be the answer. I have to have my hand pretty close to be uncomfortable. Surely it wouldn't be a good idea to have this thing 8 inches from my young plantalones?

From my experience with LED I keep it at least 12 some where between 12 and 24 is totally fine. With that intensity probably fine staying 24 inches away

That's an intense light I'd give them a week or two and start moving it closer until they show they can't take it being any closer

Thanks. That's what I'll do.

What warning signs would I get that it's too close? Yellowing/burning around leaf edges ? Crispy leaves ?

I start mine about 3 feet away, then move it a couple inches closer every other day. Not sure if that's right but it works for me.

I guess the main issue is that every LED panel is so different. These COB lights are pretty bright and they have reflector cups. Painful to look at.

I'll leave at 24" for now and see how it goes.If they start stretching I'll move closer.

What size is your tent? 2x4?

I recently just purchased the same light but I am running it in a 2x2x5 tent. I have mine approx 17 inches away from my canopy with no issues. It seems like you can get this light extremely close because of the low temperature but with how penetrating cob lights are I don't know how big of a difference it makes. I would love to follow along with your grow. Are you planning on doing a grow journal?

Thanks. That's helpful. I guess I'll stay at 24" and see how things go. I'll lower if they get leggy. They seem to be growing quickly and they look healthy, so that's good. Plus, I don't want to lose coverage area with the light by going lower.

2x3x6. I'm currently at Day 4 from sprout and Day 6 from Seed. I have 2 casey jones and 2 Papaya. Once I get time to transplant to my 3 gallon smart pots, I plan on keeping the best looking plant of each, and throwing out the other 2. I only have room for two plants in this tent.

I plan on doing LST and possibly SCROG. I already have metal grids that I can use to SCROG, and I have some green twine already. I want to maximize this grow space, and don't want these plants to get too tall.

I plan on keeping a journal, but I haven't started a thread yet. I do however, have pictures taken along the way, so it won't be hard to create.
Should I just start a journal thread?

Papaya is one of my favorite strains to grow. It takes forever to flower but so worth it

hahaha thats funny. That's the reason I'm not growing the Pineapple Chunk seeds I have. Heard they take 100+ days flowering.

Hopefully Papaya not that long. I wanted an indica and a sativa so those are the two I settled on for now. (Casey Jones and Papaya)

with leds if your to close the tops of your plants will burn. the company recommends atleast 18 inches
