G'day

Got a seedling that sprouted a few days ago in dwc system. I checked this arvo and found mould had started to grow on 1/2 of 1 of the cotyledon leaves.
I'd like to save the seedling in possible. Can i cut off half the leaf, or the whole? Or is should i spray it?

Cheers

Is there anyway you could gently wipe it off? Has the first set of MJ leaves come out yet?

thanks for the reply
yes the first set of leaves have come out, but they look clear. Can't really wipe off cause its on the bottom of the leaf

I had the same problem with all 3 of my plants (talk about luck). I left my first one on there because the mold was at the end of the leaf and didn't seem to bother the other leaves plus I didnt want to risk injuring it; eventually the moldy leaf died off on its own. Now it's growing the most vigorously of the three. The second plant it seemed both tips of the cotyledon leaves were a bit moldy but I left them and now it too is growing well. The third plant I messed it up with too much moisture and almost half of one of its cotyledon leaf was black so I decided to take a chance (since it already looked dead) and pinched it off with my nail as gently as possible. Now the first set of very tiny leaves are growing on it. And it seems to be recovering.

So all in all, it's up to your discretion. If you think the mold will spread, then try to pinch it off without hurting your plant. Otherwise, I would leave it as seedlings are known to be very gentle. And try to keep a fan running to keep moisture from accumulating worsening the mold problem.
