seedling lighting

my question is after ive soaked my seed and the tap root is out before they break the soil do i leave them in the dark cupboard or put them straight under lights also should i cover the pots with plastic to keep humiditiy up thank you everyone

you can put lights on them but only use a small cfl or floro dont throw anything major on them for a while. Like I say to most people putting to much light on a seedling is like throwing a infant in a tanning bed.

I'm not certain it matters so much. That said, I was told by a master gardener (in relation to *all* seeds regardless of type) to not put the seedlings under light until the cotyledons break the soil. THEN they should all go under light as close as possible without burning. For cool flouros they need to go pretty close and you'll need to adjust daily or so as they grow.

This tends to work well. If using a humidity dome to sprout, remove when the cotyledons appear above the soil
