seedling leaves are turing yellow...pics

my plant has had a bad start. first it almost died of thirst now i got just right. it st's under a 23w 1 inch away 24 hours in a small box i made and now my leaves are yellowing. what can cause this?

Can't really see much with your picture, lass. If you can, could you please say what you've been giving the poor thing?

From what I could tell, I'd say it's maybe some overwatering? How frequently do you water, and how do you do so?

just water every 3 days. the soil is normally dry by then.i also have it sitting on a heating pad on low. thats because it gets cold here at night and my box is sitting on the floor. its growing its 2nd set of leaves but slow for it to be under the light 24 hrs.

That may be your problem. How cold does it get around your area?

(Cuz if is anywhere close to mine, just the heat from the light is enough, more than that, especially under the soil, could cause some root rot.)

Also, 24hs is still enough light and heat just for the sproutling.
what I've done, for a successful plant, was to alos cover it in a plastic cover, which kept most of the moisture, and kept the air relatively hot, but not the soil.

Are you feeding yet?

im in mississippi its btween 85-90 during the the day but it gets very chilly this time of year at night and we keep all the windows up. the heating pad is on low and thats slighty warm. the color change started in when i the window, i get good sunlight at about 8:30 in the morning. but since then i've just left it under the light. my second leaves are not yellow but not dark green either like the other ones started.

So wait, is it only the first set of leaves that are yellowish? Or the whole sprout?

And don't worry, I know what you mean about chilly, but don't forget that MJ likes temps around 72 - 78, so even if it does get a little lower than that on your thermostat, it won't be quite the same for your plant.

I live much higher north than you, and usually, our nights are colder than yours, I still wouldn't use a heating pad, because that just heats up the soil.

If the soil heats up more than the air, or even just to the same degree, it probably would cause root rot.

Oh, and dont start fertilizing it before at least 3 weeks worth of growth. Otherwise, it'd be like giving an energy drink to a baby?

So I'd highly recommend you don't heat the poor thing's soil.
