The goal is to keep the dirt from compacting and forcing the oxygen out of the root system. i would like hydro as thru reading around hydro has the best growth rate, hence the reason to the homemade set up.. the soil and set up was kinda necessary as the proper hydro equipment is pretty rare.. and space is quite limited.. i chose to build this as its cheap, easy to get and fits my grow area well (i would love to have the proper equipment but this is what i have to work with living in a third world country )
