Okay so i put the seed in dirt 8 days ago and i have had it under a 13watt CFL for 24hrs. it started to poke through on friday and i was just wondering if everything looks okay..cuz to me it looks extremly small and is growing very slowly. I would also like to know if it would be okay to put it outside during the day in a very shady spot that gets about 2 hours of direct sunlight and then put it back under the CFL at night any info is appreciated thanks

Direct sun in the early morning is fine but when noon hits it can get really bright and burn some plants.

mine get direct sun....the new growth explodes under the sun...as long as the seedling does not dry out it will take all the sun you can throw at her

ya gotta think of it like this, a wild plant would die in the fall/winter and germinate in the spring when the ground warms,...no cfl's ...no pampering ..just sun and morning dew and sporadic rains

Yea true im just keeping it inside till its big enough cuz my last 2 plants were destroyed by some type of animal

alright, ill leave mine out the whole day too see what happens, and ill make sure it doesnt get dry ill mist it twice a day. is that good enough?

Because the sunlight might get magnified by droplets of water on the leaves left by misting and cause burns, burns will cause stress and damage to your plant causing stunted growth or worse...also I heard bears like misted plants and nobody wants a bear in the garden.

the seedling looks fine.

as far as it growing slowly, i wouldn't call that slow unless the seed had a tail when you planted it. if you germinated it and then planted it, that's a tad slow for 8 days, but still nothing to worry about as the seedling looks healthy.

I had heard that too about not misting in light but I honestly think that only really happens to ur plants if u do a foliar feeding with water that has nutes in it, cause the salts in the nutes mixed with the water on the plants added to the heat will burn the plants, but I spray my plants with just plain water when they r under the lights and I don't see any burn on the plants where I spray em down. I think its cause water with salt in it has a higher boiling point so the water will get hotter than normal.

spray early in the morning so its like sew but in direct mid day sun they could burn just as spambunny stated
