Seedling died

The other day I planted 2 sprouted zkittles off wet paper towels. One seedling root was stuck to the towel and tore the root tip off when I lifted it to plant. I was hoping it would still survive. I put it under my growing light and later that night the leaves were totally folded up so I turned the light off thinking it might be too bright for that stage. This morning I hoped it would recover but it died. Was it the light or torn root tip that killed it?

Stop using paper towels and germinate the seeds in straight soil or rapid rooters or Rockwool.

You could also soak the seed in water for 24-48 hours in a dark place and it should start spouting a tail. Just toss it in your medium after that. Or next time with paper towels, try to plant the seed before the tail gets too long. Good luck!

^^^ I think that's what I did wrong, I let it grow too long. I might try the direct soil route again but in previous attempts it failed. The soil might have been too wet or cold them other times I tried it. So do I put the grow light on it right after I plant it? Or does it need to wait until it gets a certain size? I'm using a 28 watt led full spectrum with mylar surrounding the pot. It looks pretty bright inside.

The solution at the time would have been to plant it paper towel and all :weed:

I soak overnight and straight to soil BTW
