Seed too deep

So my pops started his first grow since the 80s. I picked him up some auto tomatos..... Talked to him today, day six since he sowed five of them into coco loco. Not one has popped yet. After talking a bit found out he sowed them an about an inch deep. I told him just to wait and hopefully they pop. Should i tell him to maybe scrape off a small amount of the soil on top or should i probably just pick him up another set of five? Thanks.

I would give it more time like you initially told him.
