If you look at the top left you can see where it sprouted, but it looks like a root to me. Any ideas or am I just freaking out?

Yea, looks like a root to me, take her out and see if she is sprouting the wrong way. I like to use rockwool or A-ok plugs to pop seeds, never had a problem with sprouting upside down. I will say the pic is a little hard to determine.

I think Bayou bud is right,,it looks like a root and its brown as its been exposed to light,, I too concur have a wee soft dig and see whats going on.

probably a "volunteer." not cannabis. it was in the soil. don't pull it, but you'll see real seedling break ground. then pull that. imo

I'd take it out ASAP and check to see if its your girl. Roots really, really do not like light. And if it popped upside down all of that light on it will burn her out n dry her up. No moisture in the air to keep her happy and alive.

That's taproot-up. He probably listened to some troll on this forum and planted it upside down.

Dig it up, and flip it over.

I'd also suggest using a smaller pot to plant it into to start. Start small and repot with size to force the roots to really girth out.

So I dug under from the side of the root. It was about a inch long white sprout under the soil, and I couldn't tell which way was up so I layed it in sideways and buried it again. Should I be good?

The white part is the root. Plant that downwards if you can. If you have already replanted it, I wouldn't mess with it too much more.

Yea, if you moved her already sideways, I'd leave her. I plant my seeds on their sides and they always adjust. Straight up upsidedown is no good though. If it is the tap root it will force itself down, so it being on its side should be okay. No more than like 1/2 an in down but no less than a 1/4 since its already popped.
