Seed showing tap root but no seedling

Dropped the seed in damp soil three days ago. Poked around in the soil it's showing a tap root usually my seeds are seedlings by now. Only showing a short tap root is it dead or just slow?
 
3 days i'd say its still doing good. My auto plant which i started last month took like 5 days before it had a stem and a helmet head. Some are slower then others but it will be fine. I recommend soaking the seeds in a cup of water preferably distilled for 24-36 hours before you plant in soil or put it in a damp paper toil for another 24-36 hours until you get a taproot. I find any seeds can take a little long if just put in soil with water. I'm starting to soak all my seeds before planting now, and I've been gardening for 10-15 years.
