Finally one of my seedlings is making it!! I planted root up and just gently helped the seed turn over into position, This time i soaked my RW and put it into a sour cream container that was cleaned out with paper towel in the bottom to keep wicking water to the cube and everything looks great it is only a inch tall with the first set of leaves but it is growing very vigoriously. Hopefully she stays alive! Thanks go's out to all the people that gave me their input! i think i was going wrong by thinking the cube was too wet. But i think it wasnt wet enough. Anyways smoke on!

Never put the taproot facing up. It could grow out the top, and get dried out from the air, and will most likely die.

You're on rollitup.org now. You're with people who actively grow and know what the hell they're talking about. The advice you've been given here is to plant the ROOT TIP DOWN. Now whether you chose to believe amsterdam... or us, is your decision.
If the seed is not germinated the fat end should go down with the point upwards. the reason for this is the tap root will curve and grow downward so as the head of the seed is pushing through the soil/rooter there is enough friction for the seed husk to come off. If you watch a seed germinate the root will always curl, this is so the husk gets knocked off as is pops through the soil. if you planted it tip down it would actually do a u turn and use a lot more energy getting the right way round. it mat seem strange but think how a seed would fall to the ground in nature, the heavier part (rounded end) would hit the ground first not the other way around like a dart! Hope that cleared it up

Root tip up. Here's a great picture to demonstrate my point. Don't listen to the root down crowd, they don't understand basic horticulture.

Here's what happens when you face the root tip down like so many people on here are wrongly telling you to do...

True, planting root tip up will not stop the seedling from sprouting... but I disagree with you that it is BETTER. In fact, My experiments have shown that root tip DOWN is MUCH better. Thats where its MEANT to go, and if you have already pointed it into the right direction, you have saved it some effort and saved the process some time.
Funny how someone with such a high reputation and post count on here knows so little...
