Poly hybridization didn’t happen with cookies. Most strains share a similar genetic makeup prior to that, Crossing all the hype strains with eachother has been a long standing “Breeder” tradition when most were never IBL. Idk why cookies gets the long rep when they’re like 90% of the market. There’s a lot of dank coming out, but It was always Wifi this and Stardawg that before or all these strains from the 80’s or back people chase is like reverse hype IMO . When you cross a strain it’s a mix of dominant and recessive genes without going into Mendel’s work or co/incomplete dominance/ genetic equilibriums it’s essentially impossible for any of them to be exactly the same and you can still acquire good genetic material from their genetics. OGKB, Gary Payton, GMO, & Don Mega are all examples of great new school strains.
As for collecting it’s hard to see what will become worth $. Cement Shoes by Cult Classics is selling for 500$ when that’s an increase invalue from original price it’s still retail for say Seed Junky or Cookies. It’s easier to buy stock of the hype and resell when out of stock (GrandiFlora) if that was the venture purpose. I don’t collect for resale, there’s enough people trying that already. It’s more about grabbing a broad selection of strains and older genetics to make my own seeds from several points. There are several companies that specialize in preservations and Seed Vault drops and pops so I don’t think any private collection is saving anyone from the dread of poly hybrids. Only those educated enough about genetics can truly appreciate an Heirloom, preservation, or say a Haze from Mr.Nice are connoisseur type growers. A lot of people who smoke don’t even care about the name and if they do they don’t care about the lineage.
My SAS is not driven by monetary gains. It’s driven by my desire to smoke the broadest spectrum of cannabis any one human can hope to sample. I hope to pass with very cultured lungs.
