Seed Germination (safest)

Hey, what is the safest way to germinate seeds?
I recently got some good genetics and I am so scared I will do something to fuck it up before it even lives....

I don't want to do the papertowel method because I fear it...

I have a T5 lamp hung... can I just put some soil and holes in a plastic cup and then pop the seed in that and let it go from there?

I hear people do things like soaking it in water for a few days or H202 ....

can I just simply pop it into soil in a plastic beer cup and throw under a T5? is that safe? what kind of care would they need after that?

BEST and SAFEST way to germinate?

You can put the seed right in the soil and keep the soil moist. Putting the seed in a shot glass of water for 24 hours is a good way to tell which seeds are viable. Once they crack you put them in a moist paper towel in a dark place until you see the tap root. I have left seeds in the paper towel and forgotten about them for a couple days. I opened the bone dry paper towel and the seeds had almost 1 inch roots on them, I planted them and they grew fine. People under estimate how much these plants can endure and still thrive.

i agree with bam^ if you are really concerned about getting the most out of your seeds then i would soak em, then use the paper towel method. you cant go wrong.

I plant directly into the dirt.

No soaking, no paper towel, no crazy internet stoner shit. It would take me a month to get my garden planted this way.

Put your mix in the cup, water till pretty moist, make a hole 1/8-1/4" deep, drop the seed in, firm the soil down, put under the light. Done. I lay the seed sideways, eliminating the pointy end up or down debate.

Just make sure the cup has drainage holes. Should pop in 3-5 days.

Ive only used one method and its worked excellent. I use a small plate and lay two paper towels on top of each other and pour water onto the plate. Let the excess water drain off the side of the plate and put the seed between the two paper towels. I then put cling wrap over the top of the plate and set it behind my tv (cling wrap= humidity, and tv= warmth). Usually only takes mine anywhere from 12-24 hours but ive heard it can take up to a couple weeks.. hope this helps

I put my seeds into a bowl of water and wait for them to germinate. The ones that germinate I put into soil right away when I see a good size tap root.

Put the seeds in a jar half filled with water (use bottled water or i boiled and cooled water too) after a day swirl the seeds around and they should sink to the bottom. You can either get one plate with paper towel on it, wet it and place the other plate over it to trap moisture and keep the light out or i have used a plate with wrap over it and put it in a dark space. The paper towel method is by far my best and i have tried the plastic bag one too and straight into soil. Just do not touch the seeds and if you must do it with clean hands. Make sure the water your using is not straight out the tap and when you transplant them from towel to soil do it with care. (Do not use cotton wool as the roots can get tangled and grow into it).

I also found that heat/warmth was a major factor... I had a dark box placed on underfloor heating and i placed my tray in there.. Put the plate on something warm, seeds do not germinate in the cold.
