Seed Germination Question/'s

I had put about 6 seed's to germinate and at first someone told me to put it on top of my monitor but then someone else said that's just if you live in a very cold climate and im in a pretty moderate climate in sacramento but my question is in 24 or so one seed the pistol was out and the next day another seed had sprouted but I still have four left does this mean they are no good or do some just take longer then other's and I should just keep doin what im doing or is it a waste of time and do you think putting it back on top oof my monitor might help I mean my plate's im using to put and cover the seed's got alot of humidity if someone could give me some pointers that would be awsome thanks alot..

I just put my seeds between toilet paper ( 3-4 squares on top and 3-4 squares on bottom ) and wet it all up, lighty squeeze excess water out and throw them in any windowsill and when they are slmost dryed out I wet it again and lightly squeeze excess water and repeat as many times needed and let em' do their thing

It has never took more than 2 days for seeds to sprout for me but I hear it can take up to a week

all i do is get about a 2 length sheet of paper towel, go to the sink and get the water a neutral temp, not to warm, not too cold, soak the paper towel completely, then with your hands, squeeze 75% of the water out so it is very moist, then fold the paper towel in half making it 2 sheets thick, spread your seedlings apart about half an inch, then folf it lengthwise, and keep folding it until its basically a 2 inch long strip and the seeds are inside nice and moist. Get a plastic poland spring bottle, or i even prefer a 12 oz gatorade bottle because the mouth is wider and its easier to get the paper towel in and out for inspection. Put the paper towel in with seedlings and keep in a warm (75 degrees or so) dark place. Check every day to see if they split. Once you see the seed has split and the initial root coming out, time to plant. Out of ten seeds i almost always have a 90% success rate, and like k-town said it hasn't for me either taken longer than 1-2 days

well you dont want the area to be cold or hot. It is totally possible to germinate a seed at 32 degrees farenheit or even temperatures in excess of 90 degrees, however those are extremes and will decrease your likelyhood of having a successful germination. I dont go crazy with finding the perfect spot, last time i germinated i threw the bottle in a clothes trunk and closed it, and checked on it periodically

if the seeds are smaller and black they wont germinate

What I've done is placed the seeds between a couple of folded paper towel layers. I don't wet the paper first to avoid bacteria when I squeeze it with my hand. I use a small plate with a small bowl. No metal. Once the seeds are in the dry paper towel I put it on the plate, use tap water that has been sitting out in the sun for 24hrs (gets rid of the chlorine but keeps the good stuff) to soak just the paper towel, not the plate. Cover the plate with the bowl keeping all light out and place on top of the fridge or someplace warm (nothing over 90 is right). Some take 24hrs, while others take up to 10 days. I've done it. Germinating this way does yield results, the effort in handling the seedling with sprout is difficult because bacteria is every where. I've always germinated in soil or rockwool. But have tried the method your asking about. Results were out of 8 out of 10 seeds germinated.

ahhh thanks alot guy's I think I got it it might just be the seeds cause one of the seed's is a bag seed I found its really small and white and like u said those wont germinate and the others are kinda black I guess but so were the other ones that sprouted but I have a really good Idea of what im doing thanks alot guys!!
