Seed / breeding question here : has anyone crossed the Moonrocks strain with the Caferacer strain yet ?

Don't get me wrong you can do it like in the case of backcrosses but go too far and it isn't good for the long term health of a line that's why they say ideally don't go over bx2 where possible

Long story short the wider the genetic pool the more possible combinations that can happen so the more vigourous healthy and adaptable the line should be however with effects in mind it's not so clear cut or all these new multi poly hybrids would be the bees knees and to me they ain't so that bit ain't so simple mind you that's all related to each other too everything is cookies this or gelato or skittles this etc

Ok interesting. Are IBL strains only inbred to a certain degree then? I thought in bred lines the point is you get the same pheno almost if not every bean you pop. Not to hijack but its on topic. Im not normally into breeding but a little info here and there is fun. I know its somewhat complex.

At most I may make my own seeds with a male/female to keep a strain as they can run out at the seed bank or stop making it. Maybe one day Il make a simple cross for fun.

There inbred but ideally they would be made using enough numbers so that it keeps the line healthy this is why landrace though heavily inbred can still have vigour it's been maintained with huge numbers so you ain't losing genes every round breeding/preservation really is a numbers game to do it right
