Sealed room with air cooled lights?

Hey guys,

I'm figuring out the design on my room, I have a 12 x 12 flower space, and I am using 4 1000w lights with magnum 8" hoods. I have been kicking around the idea of running with co2, but in order to do that, I'd need a sealed room. So my question is: can I cool my lights by pulling the air off of them, run it into a carbon filter (inside the room) and have that air scrubbed and released back into the air? I am sold on cooling the lights to allow for the bulb to be closer to the plants, but I'm wondering if it would even be beneficial considering I'd be pulling the hot air off the lights only to be put right back into the room.

If this doesn't seem logical, how else could I cool my lights while still sealing the room and using co2?

Hiya M8,

If you don't do much other than "scrub" it, that combined with the fan itself will slowly raise the temp a couple of degrees above what it is at entering temp( moving air is not "cooler air") you have to strip it of the heat somehow or eventually you will overheat depending on a few variables<spelling? I am waxed at the moment :bigjoint:, anyhow you really need to consider some type of self contained cooling (minisplit)or get that light heat down to tolerable levels through more conventional means (venting).

Good Luck and Great Grows

Cut to holes in the wall and create a closed loop of cool air.
Meaning, suck air from a diff room thru the lights and out into a dif room. I boarded up my window and cut 2 holes in it. Suck cold outside air thru lights and exhaust right back outside. Unlimited cold air :)

You want the pro answer? Fuck the ducting and holes in the wall and fans. Take your AC hoods and hang them from the ceiling. Install mini split.

Quick, cheap, and no wooshing sounds from holes in your basement wall or windows. Hang a carbon filter from the ceiling-- scrub a dub dub.

This is your answer here and what I do in a 12 lighter bloom with a co2 burner and a mini spli ac.

simply draw your air in from outside the room with an intake fan. Duct that to your glass in closed hoods and have this air sucked out with another fan thRough your ducted lights outside the room. This way your taking air from inside the room that is enriched with co2 and your lights still get cooled

I'm working on dialing in a grow like this, I'm having problems with sucking in cold winter air and getting a ton of condesatikn dripping off my ductwork. (litterally piddling on the ground) I'm going to re-route and pull air from another room in the house, hopefully stopping this. Another thing to think about is humidity, I run a sentinel co2 generator (propane) and have high rh. I'm shopping now for a larger dehumdifier. On top of that you have to control the heat, that will call for a ac unit.
