Sea Solids and Miracle Gro for Hydro?

I'm researching hydroponics for my next expiremental grow. I can't really afford all the spendy store-bought nutes. I like the idea of compost tea but it seems there is lots of extra cleaning involved as far as pump hoses, stones, and reservoirs. I came across this article and so far it's the only one of it's kind I've found. It involves mixing Himilayan salt (sea solid) with one quarter to half doses of regular old water soluble nutes, such as Miracle Gro.

What does the RIU communtiy think of this?

For the cost and trouble i think i would try some of that nutrient off of e-bay first. Pretty damn cheap and good feedback.... Just gotta talk myself out of paying out the ASS all the time for Dutch master

Which nutrients on ebay?

Has anyone else heard of this?

A good piece of advice I read on here not too long ago said that nutrients should be the one thing you shouldn't skimp on.

Dyna-Gro has a simple veg+bloom kit that doesn't break the bank, is very ph stable and yields great results for hydro and soil setups.

I haven't seen anyone on here use Miracle Grow for hydro yet so I'm not sure if it's not recommended or what. It's good for soil grows though if you're on a super tight budget like me. The MG Tomato food for veg and the Bloom for flowering works pretty good. A good supplement to MG ferts (and most other fert. lines too) is to add a few drops of Superthrive to every watering. =)
