i was wondering if any of you guys had tried to grow the strain "chronic" and if it would be a good SOG strain. i will be growin using tha flood and drain method. also how tall should i let my plants get before inducing flowering, remember i want to do SOG.

This is some text I cut from the serious seeds catalog regarding their Chronic strain:

"Our most commercial variety, this medium height, not too dense plant is the perfect combination of good yield and excellent quality. Smokers that know and grow choose this plant for its combination of appearance and sweet smell. With its indica background Chronic can produce up to 600 g/m2 without losing that connoisseur feeling. Grows a single huge central bud with few side branches. Do not top plants to encourage multiple big buds, as this strain does not respond well. Mild, sweet smell develops while flowering, take care to dry thoroughly after harvest (before packaging) to maintain this subtle fragrance."

Based on it being a medium height plant with a large single cola and few side branches, I would think it would be ideal for SOG.

Usually when doing SOG, people begin flowering at 8-12 inches tall from what I have read. Maybe somebody with personal experience can verify that, because I only know from reading.

thanks guys. now anutha question. I will have two 4'x4' trays with 46 4" rockwool cubes in each tray. i will be harvesting every 4 weeks, the strain i'll be growing is "chronic". i will put my plants into flowering as soon as the clones show roots. each tray will be sitting under a 600w HPS lamp per tray. how much do you guys think i should expect to yield each harvest. also i want to keep my mothers plants in a refrigerator how much light should they get and what kind of light and how many clones can i expect to get from each mother. also please tell me how many mother plants i should have to get my 46 clones . thanx

A suggestion, well a couple. 46 plants is a lot for a 4x4 tray. Read Al B Fuct's journal, How to get a harvest every two weeks. VV

There are so many more factors that determine yield besides those you have mentioned: ventilation, temperature, humidity, PH, nutrients, growing medium, CO2 availability, etc.

The seed catalog sais that with perfect growing conditions, chronic can produce up to 600 grams per square meter. Most people get less than the catalogs say are possible, because it is hard to get everything just perfect - especially when you are a new grower.

Whatever you get from your first harvest, if you pay attention and learn as you go along, you will tend to improve your results on successive grows. You are better off just focusing on doing your best and learning as you go rather than trying to predict the outcome.
