It's getting pretty crowded in there--the fan leaves are starting to block a lot of the lower bud sites--so I'm going to spread them out under two 600W metal halides soon. Due to the FIMing, the lower bud sites have exploded in growth, and are starting to grow up towards the tops of the plants. I won't FIM again before flower, as I find FIMing once is enough to get the lateral branching I need to fill out the ScrOG before flipping.

The AK-47s (on the left) have taken really well to the FIMing; the THC Snow (on the right) aren't very branchy, so I had to top a couple of the taller plants to stop them from growing too tall. They're all really healthy bar a few of them which had spotting on some of their leaves due to a pH swing--I was in a rush to water them, and forgot to pH the nutrient solution (facepalm). I'm in week 5 of veg now, so, at some point this week, I'm going to spread them into the second half of the tent, install a screen, and train them into it a little before flower. Hopefully, from the way they're looking, I'll pull at least 3-4 ounces per AK-47 and maybe a little less per THC Snow. I'm not too concerned about the Caramelicious, as I just threw them in for fun.

I am in! Someone else who uses Ionic! I'm going to try coco again and using Ionic with hydroplex so fingers crossed.

Question? How are you watering the cubes right now as it looks like they're just on the tent floor? That's not an issue just curious because obviously right now it's not a flood and drain etc........

Yeah, I really like their product line, as I hate using A + B nutrients. I've never had any issues with their stuff.

I'm hand-watering them all the way through, as I couldn't be bothered to set up a drip feed system. I'm taking them in groups to the bathroom, and watering from the top down till 10-20% runoff. When I eventually get them under a screen, I'm gonna sit the cubes on plastic plates, so I can water them inside the tent. Ordinarily, I'd go with 6" Hugo cubes from the get-go, but I fancied seeing if I could finish a crop in 4" cubes. I'm starting to have to water them more frequently now, so it might be amusing (or hella stressful) to see how often I have to water them by the end of flower.

Gotcha thanks for the info and yes the one part is really easy. Last time I used nutes before Ionic I was doing Flora Nova for the same reason but it's messy as all get out and I wanted something cleaner. A fellow member here turned me onto it.

Their nutrients have some sort of pH stabilization which, according to them, mitigates pH fluctuations. I've found that, when using their nutrients, the pH does stay closer to 7 than other brands, but that isn't a selling point for me, as I almost always use rockwool.

I haven't grown in coco since last year will have some Tupur here next week and excited about that and using the Ionic in this capacity as well. It made hydro stupid easy. I didn't even use cal mag lol, just epsom salt and the ionic, hydroplex for bloom booster and hydroguard for res/roots. Every now and then I would throw some ful-power in there. Super clean using ionic......I like clean lol.........

The bulbs I ordered arrived late--they only had dual spectrum from the brand I like--so I've finally got them under the screen. I ran out of string halfway through, so I had to use some shitty plastic cord to finish off, haha. The AK-47's on the left; the THC Snow's on the right. I purposefully forgot where the Caramelicious are, because I thought it'd be fun to figure it out during flower.

This is from the second day of flower. I'm having this weird problem with my bud sites where the new growth has gone a pale green/yellow after the lights-off period. I've never run into this issue before, so I'm confused as to what might be causing it. It's obviously a lack of chlorophyll, but I don't think it's a nitrogen deficiency, as that would start at the bottom of the plant. It is pretty warm where I am right now; my lights are 2 feet away from the canopy. If anyone could give me a heads up on what might be causing that, I'd appreciate it!

The yellowing on the newest bud sites has mostly faded, and is looking a darker green. I think it was because I left the plants in darkness for 24 hours, before starting the flowering period, which perhaps fucked up their chlorophyll production. I usually do this, but, for some reason, the effect was more pronounced this time. I'm currently watering once a day, but I can easily see myself watering 2-3 times a day by the end of flower. The last photo is from day 7 of flower (it's now day . I'm starting to see pistils forming. I've been tucking all the tallest bud sites under the screen, so the lower bud sites have time to catch up, but I'll start to ease off this soon, as I want to end up with some nice bud stacking at the end of flower.

Ah, sorry, I set it as private and not unlisted. Fixed.

So today, I cut the screen out, as I've finished training, and I wanted to tidy up the lower canopy. I know most growers like to lollipop at the start of flower, but I usually leave it until a week or two in, as you never know which lower bud sites might just make it high enough--depending on strain, pheno and light. Here are some shots of how they're shaping up just to prove how large you can grow them in 4" cubes--and I could probably grow them a lot larger.

I had to move them into the attic, because I thought a family member was visiting, but it was a false alarm. They got 24 hours of darkness, and did that weird thing again where the top growth went bright green, so it must happen due to a prolonged lack of light. I did a little more pruning to clear any lower bud sites that aren't getting any light. Today's the start of week 3 of flower.

It's getting to the point where they need two waterings per day, so whatever stress I'm feeling now is about to double, LOL.

Most of the plants are looking like they'll produce 3-4 ounces (I think there's only one or two which are a little runty). I think these are going to be some serious yielders (especially the THC Snow); the buds are really starting to stack. I'm going to hit them with some PK boost today. Sorry, I don't have any Method 7 glasses to get a clearer picture for you.

Day 23 of flower.

That is insane. I've NVR seen a plant get that big I'm 4 inch cube. It blows my mind the plant gets that big with such small space for roots. But I'm assuming they were the same a smartpot or airpot. When the root hits the outside of the Rockwood cube the air stops it. And the plant sends a new root. I am very very interested in this. I'm gonna have to try it. The only downfall would be if you dont have a dip system, DTW, or flow system the hand watering multiple times a day could get annoying. I'm a soil guy. And this method woukd save me a ton of.time mixing my soil, save money on buying soil, and pots.

Yeah, I'm amazed at how large they've grown; I've gotten similar growth out of 12-litre pots. Perhaps this proves that the need for a large root mass is a myth. I usually use 6" cubes with a top-fed system. I was going to sit these on top of slabs, but I never got round to it, and thought it might be fun to see how much I can pull from the 4" cubes. TBH, I haven't had any problems so far aside from having to water more frequently which is actually a plus. Yeah, it's a pain in the ass having to take them out a 1/4 at a time to hand-water them, but I've gotten used to it. I water once a day--2 hours earlier each day. When it gets to the point where I have to water at lights on, I'll water them again before lights off, and repeat the schedule. I've been hitting them with 1.5-2ML of PK boost per litre with every watering, and the buds have exploded with growth--this is a really important step a lot of growers miss, I think.

So far, the AK-47 is stacking better than the THC Snow, but the THC Snow is producing more crystals. They're starting to smell dank, too.
