scrog with a short strain?

i'm growing White Queen, which is supposed to reach a max height of 60 cm. 9 plants, 4.5 ft x 4 ft planned scrog screen...1000w MH...my question is, would setting up a scrog screen even be worth it with a plant this small? it seems to me that i would only be able to train each plant a handful of times...
has anyone grown White Queen that's reading this? how tall did your plants get? train or lst at all? any info or advice would help out greatly

Well, over 2 years after the fact I'll reply. You must have gotten your seeds from AMS, good choice. They have a bad rap on some sites and forums but I have had nothing but greatness with them. Their problem is their country's origin, US customs tries to sift through most of this nation's post before allowing it through but that's impossible, so it's a crap shoot but one I have been lucky at.

The white queen is a very powerful strain, around 20-25% THC. That 60cm height, is really 35-65cm or 13 1/2 -26 inches. THIS IS VEG HEIGHT, NOT FLOWER. Seed banks ONLY list VEG heights. So depending on how long you veg, lets say you go until it reaches 15", when set to flower using 12/12 lighting the veg size will double if not triple. So, minimum height of this strain if you flower around 15" is around 3 feet. Plenty of height for scrog. Screen sits around 8-12" above medium, so if veg until 15" at 8-10" height from medium with 4 or so of these you'll have plenty of height to spread across the screen to make the suggested fill of 50-75% before flowering.

My advice is DO NOT scrog from seed. Not because you may cause too much stress and turn an all female seed/plant into a herm(I'm assuming you got the feminized white queens)but because it's better to grow out a mother or two, then use clones from those mothers. Veg goes much quicker, plus you will learn all the exact requirements, like height and spread, from that first scrog, and you'll be ready with a bunch of clones to go into your second, then third and so on with total precision and confidence.

I did grow WQ in both normal and scrog grows, it's a very strong and healthy strain but not the tallest or stretchiest by far. I was never a big scrog fan, but doing my first grow in just the normal setup then in scrog the differences were very noticeable. In scrog you will have MORE buds and BIGGER buds, the yield difference was almost 30% more in scrog using same wattage light, ventilation, nutes, ect. Once you go scrog you will never go ...??? back to normal grows.

EDIT:In veg both grows of WQ I vegged to around 18", in my regular grow in flower they got to 4 feet, in scrog hard to say, but in a closet scrog grow using a 50"x28" screen 4 plants filled it out to over 50%. I like a little over 50% rather than the universal 75% fill better because some strains really stretch and in flower some strains go BOOM. But WQ is pretty short and slow so if you're still alive, not in prison and are not now a recovering marijuana smoker, and still have some of these babies left, these are a very good first time scrog strain as it will be hard to over fill the screen which I find to be much worse than under-filling, to a point.

Hope I'm not just talking to myself here, I wanna here what happened with your WQs. :blsmoke:
