Well, this is the third year our state stores have had a bottle lottery for Pappy. Last year there were 25K entries, this year 75K. I have a .49% chance of winning the right to purchase any Pappy release at sugg retail. NO, I didn't win the last 2 years either :) Would prob get the 23 yr. at $250 just cause.

Also any of you CA folks might want to get on the mailing lists of the following. I know occasionally they have good discount pricing on bourbons and special bottlings , might be the same for other spirits and they ship intrastate.

You just cannot better traditional Xmas presents. Chocolate...can eat the stuff for days. Socks.....never cut ny toenails enough so always need socks. I don’t like a lot of Irish whiskeys, but I really like Paddy’s. I think anyone drinking Jameson has never really sat down with a dram of Paddy’s in the wintertime. It’s also somewhat cheaper than Jameson’s flagship. It’s got a higher malt content, owing to a sweeter, almost butterscotch or chocolate shake kind of flavor, that transitions to a nice semi-dry kind of finish. It’s smoother, too. It may be unique in a whiskey world where Irish whiskey leans much more toward single pot still-style, but I really value this whiskey for what it’s worth. Definitely much more middle-of-the-road than bottom shelf, and was the Fourth most popular whiskey distilled in Ireland. Comes out of Cork.

I got this one so that I take it easy on the HP12. A little smokey and briny near the finish, that one, but not so much as some Scotches can be. It’s also good as a hot butterscotch.

Irish whisky is great. Always happy to drink some. Will look out for Paddys now. Some of Bushmills offerings are top.

I'd def. give it a shot. Part of my objections to peat is that over powers all the flavor; this would give usable comparative data.
Pronunciation: I pronounce it like it's spelled , but then I'm a hick American. It could be like we do "Island" where the "s" is silent; i.e. "eye lay".

Thanks! I believe I'll go a-Viking today and snag it at the Safeway. They also have the Glenlivet 15 for a dollar less. I sense a comparo coming on!
