Saving Private Ryan has got to be my fav WWII movie. I usually watch a military movie and within the first few minutes the factual errors just have me ready to kill. Capt. Dale Dye (USMC Retired - Oorah!) did a great job of training the actors. There were some huge factual errors in the film but it was so well made I didn't notice them until I'd seen the movie many, many times and I can still watch it and enjoy it.
I hate watching a war movie that was obviously made by someone who has no idea about anything military. Basic military courtesy is constantly taking a huge trouncing in Hollywood. How hard is it to hire someone that's been in the military and then listen to them? Usually the worst offenders are big budget movies. If I ever see John Travolta in a uniform again I will so beat his ass. OK, I'm done ranting.
