Sativa seeds Hawaii maui waui

Anybody have any experience with this strain? I cant find much info out there. Medical in Maine here. My bud is in his second run with this. First from seed and now clones.

When flowering, the original mother stretched like crazy as expected, then stunted about 4 weeks in. Everything started turning yellow...like it was salty and locked up. It was flushed well, let go for a total 12 weeks, but she never really recovered. Ended up with about 3 oz. of premature whispy, harsh nug. Oh well, first sativa indoor grow. Lets try again...

Second run from clone. These ladys stretched a lot but are looking like they will shape up better. But, just flowering really slow. They are still growing, and there are buds, but they are growing lankier still and not really filling in. The strain info from the seedbank states 8 week flower time, which seems really short for a sativa. We are at week 8 now and they dont look even halfway done. All white hairs, buds not really fully formed even, mostly just hairs. At this rate, id say itll be done in about 14-16 weeks. is this normal?! They are still growing lankier. They are drinking tons of water. And now getting some yellow spots on leaves. Im really hoping we dont lose this wave too or there will be a ton of schwag to deal with...not to mention lost time.

We have had great success in this room in general in the past, but this is the first true sativa grow. Growing in straight roots 707 and feeding with the revs compost team every 1 1/2-2 weeks. Plants all vegged well and look great in veg. Im really hoping someone with so e sativa experience can chime and help get us on track. Thanks everyone!

Did you veg them?

Might best have run clones straight to 12/12 as soon as their rooted for 10-12 weeks.

Because flowering does not start day 1 12/12 its from day 1 of first calyx

more sativa dom you might even find a 10/14 light cycle favourable.

If you want something like an old skool Maui (Thai 14+ weeks) you might find better faster skunk x haze hybrids

EG Jack herer, C99 any of the old trusted ones every breeder/hacker tries to remake.

I have seen this alot. Some pure sativa's hate indoors. I will have a hybrid with solid bud right beside a lankster.
Arjan's haze did this to me, my biggest plant ever just under a pound and it was crap. Seeds from Jamaican or
Mexican brick weed will usually get all lanky. These plants need to get huge and need the sun and they also want
a long veg, at least as long as its bud cycle. Indoors If I had a perfect set up I would add a metal halide along with an
HPS during budding to try and keep it shorter and firm up the nugs. For Indoors the SLH from Greenhouse and
Tangliope from DNA is what I would recommend for sativas.

Imagine an indoor plant getting 18 weeks veg, dam. A fucking
25 foot tree. Many sativa's could do this but the skywalker kush would out grow them all.

Yea, I gotta say Average Joe is right. I have two pure sativas, Malawi, and they are ridiculous in size and flowering times. I may have one finishing up soon, but it seems more of a judgement call. Parts of the plant seem done, other parts seem to start new flowering. Plus don't count on dense nugs, and these will be very fluffy. Sadly this will be a first run/last run in my current setup. It's hard to deal with a plant that went from 8 inches induced flowering to we'll over 5 feet. Simply difficult to manage without high ceilings.

Grew this last year, had batch of 87 seedlings out of 100 seeds. Culled about 35 from day 28 from seed as they were too stretchy. The remaining 50 were then grown for 4 more weeks before cloned. Of those 30 were kept because the rest had very thick/woody stems and that is a bad sign of low quality genes. the keepers had hollow stems and were good at nutrient uptake, stretched less and responded better to stress. I had a few males in that group and kept the frost looking one, it smelled like mango and floral. The rest had similar smell, mango/fruity with a hint of pepper. Flowering was a pain in the ass because most of them took about 13 weeks. Of the remain 20 who made it to week 8(2months in) a few popped bananas/male Staten and had to be culled. At harvest 5 looked like perfect examples of what I wanted, smelly fruit odor with reasonable stretch, heavily crusted with trichomes and good yield. I grew them from clone to be seeded but I ended up tossing away 2 of them because at that point I smoked the 5 who performed the best and only 3 of them I could say we're worth the effort in breeding with. Not that they were slouches, the high lasts a good 3 hours, the best 3 of those 100 sends are something special though. If I could describe their effects, I'd say they were very much UP and elevating, great stuff for work, in small dosages. I got a sample tested and they have 18.2% total THC and 0 CBD. Which is damn good considering its a landrace hybrid, if I smoke a lot of it I can't seems to focus and my ADHD kicks into overdrive. Small dosages are good(a joint). I seeded the 3 with my Aiea male (Hawaiian indica x Kandahar afghani) the Aiea is like a cotton candy smelling kush with massive yields, very gooey and 8 week flower, so the male was used to make a Hawaiian/afghani hybrid with fruity/candy odor. I plan to grow these seeds soon. My advice to anyone purchasing Maui Waui by nirvana/sativa seeds is to get them in bulk, because there are some holy grail phenotypes, it's just labor intensive to find them.

Some really great stuff here folks. Thanks a bunch!

these were longer than planned because flowering the mother plant took so long! Haha. From clone, about 14 weeks. Throughout veg, i suspected that they would have too much time and stretch a lot, so there wasnt a rush to push them. No nutes, just water and roots soil in 1g pots. pretty fair job topping and super cropping them for the space...These buggers can be hard to keep up with! its filled up nicely, but just a bit too much and i anticipate having prob. 4 weeks left. So, we will see regarding the height issue.

Anybody think maybe hitting them with some colder night temps could encourage them along? ...gonna be tough to judge when to flush these girls also.

Come on guys..its no different than any other grow..
So you're getting nute build up..don't feed like a normal plant...feed grow/veg formula all the way through till chop..use at the MOST AT HALF STRENGTH..
Cooler temps wont speed up the flowering, just slow it down...
Tie those girls up! They like it.
Chop away as children..they are not phased.
Here's the kali mist year old mother,AFTER 24weeks of flower...1381-301014210255-32906130.jpeg

"No different than any other grow?" -Rory, what you explained sounds nothing like any other strain ive heard of haha.no disrespect. Kudos for you sticki g out the ultra long flower time. Half strength veg ferts straight through and almost 6 months flower? ...aint nobody got time fo dat haha!

For now, im droppig the light cycle to 14 off/10 on. Hoping the extra dark will help her get the hint. And yeah, just having a hard time getting a good read on this strain. Most of the time its not hard to just tell when and how much to feed and keep things going strong. Or easily identify deficiencies. With this maui, we're just clueless. Is an odd feeling.

Def. going back to "normal" strains after this...this smoke would have to be realllllyyy exceptional to make us want to deal with the headache again.
