You can tell me how to get my dvr stuff off so I can burn them to dvd. I can hook a usb drive up to the dvr and it recognizes new media, but thats as far as I can go.

I need just a little more info...lol...are ya dish network,direct...?
If you are dish network, and this is just for my experience, pay the 35.00 one time Dvr access fee...If you are good with computers, and have one of the good versions of linux,It may work with ext 2 file systems, which is what dish network uses...never tried it...it was easier for me to go to walmart and buy a dvd recorder...the only drawback is that that dvd will only play on that player...I didn't have much success making them work in the computers.:joint:

I have dish. Cant remember the exact receiver model at the moment but the number 577 or 755 come to mind. And yes if I can just get access to the system and copy them to a computer, thats all I need. I have the computer side covered. But after that I can see the probability of running into encryption problems, one step at a time tho.

You can either take the receiver apart, remove the drive, and clone it....or pay them 35.00....hope this helps...I would clone it

Damn. Why cant they just let me hook up a usb drive and copy it that way? I see computers every day and the last thing I want to do when I get home is work on them more. I have a computer thats been broken for over a year just because I dont feel like working on them when I am at home. I fixed it by buying an Xbox:-?.

Wouldn't it be easier and a lot cheaper to just go fta? A lot of very good receivers out there getting free dish and bev. You could make some good money installing those systems for people too.
I've got a 36" motorized dish that I can get most sats with. I'm only watching 3 sats now with about 800 channels. On a 120" big ass big screen projector system.
Love getting blazed and watching the Devils REjects.:hump:

Free to air is an excellent choice...but that wasn't his question...He wanted access to his recordings through the built in usb...your reciever is probably a 522 btw...the one time fee, paid to dish network, will activate the usb,and you can save your recordings to the media of your choice...be advised,it is a complicated process to set up a windows computer to view these files..this feature is designed to let you save your recordings, for viewing it will be necessary to hook the storage device to the reciever, and use it as your decoder

You can record shows with FTA too. A lot of the receivers have usb for harddrive hookup. Then it can be moved to your computer for DVD backup.

I just picked me up a cheap Captive works 600 premium. Cost me $100, the same as 2 months of just local channels. Seems like they are really good to get codes up quick for when the sat goes down.
Well worth it!!!

Will post if anything comes up. Ya I installed it myself, loaded the bin files. Already had a Bell dish installed, cancelled the subscription. Really happy with it.
Every channel for free, can't really complain.
