Some soils have sand mixed in, since it helps with drainage. Another good use for sand is as a protective layer on top of your soil, which will help control fungus gnats and other pests. It was also used as a hydroponic medium in the old days.

I supposed if you washed the heck out of it? I've used playground sand in soil before. One theory was that it gave roots points to split at. That's why I did it anyways. Then 'dro.

Sorry, my brain skipped over the "txt spk" and incomprehensible parts of your post, and the only part I fully read was this:

yes, no and why would you use sand at all in your soil.
This is where I directed my answer, but now I realise that this wasn't actually the question.

I will make more of an effort to decode these kind of posts from now on (or not )

I'm guessing the answer is: yes, as long as you clean it properly. Use boiling water, or maybe bake it in the oven for a while. That should kill any nasty shit that may be on it.

Simple answer, NO.
The salt residue will kill your plants.
Get some sand from a builders or landscaping supply store, it's clean and good for drainage.
Or use perlite, it does the same job.
Have you ever seen a brick wall with white stains, that's because they stole sand from the beach and it can take years to leach out.
River sand is the one to use, no salt.:blsmoke:

And there you go. No... because of the amount of salt in beach sand. Very bad.

I'll second the last two posts. I also live near the beach and as easy as it sounds, its definately not worth it.
