The heat is spread over a large area compared to COBs so heat transfer isn't a big issue and common tapes are probably ok. Just don't use foam mounting tape!
I have read of a couple people having problems with the 3M thermal tape.
I use this but heard removal is difficult, some adhesive remover or lacquer thinner should work. Cold be the same situation with many tapes.

Next time I'll try dirt cheap heat sink paste and screws or even zip ties. I'll test between mounting with and with out TIM when I get more strips.
