I have 2. I only use it for the 'dark corner' in my room. $400 for a 250? Fuc that place! I wouldnt even spend $$ with ripoff artists. Check www.htgsupply.com and grab a 400w. $150 shipped. Might be able to find cheaper on Ebay, but u really gotta look. Save the 90 and save up more.. Not worth it. For $300 u can get 300w equivalent Cfls and clip on reflector at home depot

i have the same one your lookin at. i guess it depends on what ya really want to do. i have mine in a closet with 2 plants and thats all i need at the moment. i choose this as oppose to having a shit load of cfls to equal the 16000 lumens this puts off. it is my first grow also but my plants seem to be doing fine. id say it covers about 2x2 area good if ya need bigger area its not for you. just my opinion

Dont get me wrong, I like, and use mine. I wish it had the option of a bigger reflector. That lil bulb doesnt shoot far.

well iv been flowering my plants under cfls. 2 or 3 at a time. and my current plants r only about 1-2 feet tall. my last 2 harvests i only got about 2 ounces per plant. i would cut it down to one plant if i can get the same, or more weight ya kno. this is for personal use, and im kinda sick of the pop corn nuggies lol and i REALLY dont have much more $$$, if i dont spend it today, itll get spent on some other dumb b.s. i could easily get more then 2 oz per plant with an hps right?

Go get 3 of those CFL clamps, $90. I just notice that, if my plant is to wide, I have to raise the light to get all branches, thus losing lumens. Nah mean?

yepp yepp, i kno exactly wut your saying. i have 2 68 watts cfls, and TONS of 23 watters lol im guessing about 14-20?? im just tryn to get the most out of what i got. im not tryn to get some big grow started lol i just wanna have enough bud to last till my next harvest. but im planning on still having most of the cfls covering the sides of the plants

I would go to ur Dro store, ask them if u can take it out off the box, and turn it on. Get a general idea of how much is being emmited and how much space ot covers. Good luck

I say save your money on a better lamp in the future cfls are good enough for now. Save the 100$ and get a bigger lamp, you'll probably want one soon after anyways.

I'm running one (Sun System 150 HPS / internal ballast) in a mini-cabinet and it blows away the CFLs in there. The plants directly under the HPS look SO much better than the plants under just CFLs. You can't beat the price and simplicity if you have a small growing area. The thing that will separate it from CFLs of equivalent or more watts is that you will get up to 2 feet of penetration into the canopy as opposed to the few inches that CFLs will be effective in. So use both if you have a small growing area (which must be the case if you are using CFLs) and get the best of both worlds. If you are growing more plants or growing tall plants - get more wattage of course - just like you'd need to do with CFLs. It's just common sense. But a 150w is more than adequate if you want to do a a few smaller plants or one bigger plant.

I have nothing against CFLs at all and use them as well. So please don't think this is a HID fanboy post. Just by growth and vigor, I see a very notable difference in my plants as they grow.

Oh and if you are interested they should be marketing a conversion bulb for those 150w Sun Systems in the next couple of months. Just fyi.
