BEFORE ANYONE rages i would like to say i marijuana isn't bad for you it MAY cause short term memory loss for heavy users. Im still at school (Uni) and i want to smoke Marijuana what is safe amount of consumption that will not affect or impair ANYTHING. How many times per year and safe on the growing brain as the brain stops growing when you are a little older than 21 i two relatives with issues. One has Schizophrenia on my moms side and one has brain damage ( Addiction to cocaine and heroin)on my fathers side . Will this have any impact on my brain thanks.

It varies from person to person. Smoke however much you can handle. I smoke every day, multiple times a day and I'm in school too. But I make sure I get all my shit done. Hell, I study high most of the time. My limiting reagent, so to speak, is the amount of time i put into studying, not how much chronic I smoke

edit- sounds like you've never smoked before...take it easy, get school in check first then ease into it if u still want to. i've seen people who can't handle it and their priorities get out of whack.

double edit- the most short term memory loss I get is when i sometimes get up to do something and I forget when I get there. But that's only when I'm blazed and I remember when i actually think about it.

Current and former marijuana use: preliminary findings of a longitudinal study of effects on IQ in young adults

Current marijuana use was significantly correlated (p < 0.05) in a dose- related fashion with a decline in IQ over the ages studied. The comparison of the IQ difference scores showed an average decrease of 4.1 points in current heavy users (p < 0.05) compared to gains in IQ points for light current users (5.8 ), former users (3.5) and non-users (2.6).

I smoked everyday while I was writing a 30 page research paper that turned into 50 and I got the yearly department award for it. Just don't try to do all of your work high.

wait until your done with school. it only causes short term memory loss when your high. if you quit smoking your memory will go back to normal. usually people dont get high the first time. i dindt get high until about my 5th time of smoking. its hard to dose. usually its too late and your already too high. when you smoke more often its not nearly as strong. your pretty much going to be very impaired your first time being high. it will for sure effect your driving. you can smoke everyday many times for years and it wont damage your brain. its all a big myth to scare people made by bullshit useless government created advertising. unless approved under a doctor, schizophrenics should never smoke, it can make their symptoms a lot worse. unless of coarse it has been proven to help that particular person. addiction to cocaine and heroin shouldnt cause brain damage. however they're both very bad for you and can cause malnourishment which could lead to brain damage.
