so this season as far as soil has been a shitty one at least where im at! roots, fox farms are infested with gnats and other crawlers. so My options are black gold organic, mg organic "stored outside" so this one will be a last resort, and promix bx "not ideal" so it's looking like black gold or mg organic! Which of the 2 is more ideal for subs recipe?

If amending the soil with more EWC in the first place, you really shouldn't have to worry about soil dwellers. Compost teas, beneficial nematodes, mixing DE into soil will also make those larvae a non issue.

Wormcastings themselves can contain fungus gnat larve. But you are correct the DE will help.

I use Kellogg Patio Plus Potting Soil and add in Coco Coir and extra worm castings. I also add organic steer manure when I can find it. The regular steer manure is always around but since they use so much antibiotics and hormones on cows, I will only use Organic Steer Manure.
