I bought 3.5 gal washbuckets for $3 each. I drilled holes in the bottom and on the sides at the very bottom. 6 total. 3/8 or so. I've used air pots and fabric. I like the buckets best. ymmv

You are waay too much complicating..I have used fabric and air pots..Air pots are pain in the ass for watering,if the soil is too dry you have to water them extra slow,or the water just runs thru those side holes.. there are pot lifter's to buy for fabric pots,or you can diy something by your self
