Still not up out of the ground yet...

Refilled humidifier again, running 24/7

Decided to try and take care of the gnats with some mosquito bits and yellow sticky's to catch the flyers.

Had to technically water again, this time carefully to not uproot the seed but soaked the whole pot with the stuff to kill the gnat larva.

Temp - 80
Humidity - 65-70%

Right seed popped up ! Just waiting on the left one which I should expect by tomorrow morning !

Sprinkled in DE for the gnats since there was quite a few running around on the top.... waiting on new sticky's so I can change those out.

Refilled humidifier again, running 24/7

Misted underneath the DE, hopefully it does not get all dried up .

Cut a trash bag about 2" bigger than the bucket opening. Cut a hole for the plant, and tuck the bag in-between the pot and the dirt. That, combined with the bmc will get rid of them

They lay their eggs in the soil. The plastic will keep adults from getting to the soil to lay the eggs, while the Mosquito dunks kill the larva. The adults stuck under the plastic will die eventually becoming fertilizer. Keeps them from spreading, and most importantly keeps them from flying up your nose while you are gardening. I swear they know when both your hands are busy. Get a lid for the bucket even, cut a hole in that. Turn your 5 gal pails into 5 gal sips. Super easy to do. Then you can bottom feed and never see a fungus gnats again

To suffocate them? How long should I leave it on for
Leave it on forever. Lift it to water. It will act as a moisture barrier too. You'll notice all the fine feeder roots poking through the top of the soil after about a week. Give them some ewc and dr earth, they love it

Use BTi for the gnats. It’s really the only thing that will kill them. I believe DT only works when dry, and it will only address adults, not the larvae. I’d be aggressive with really young plants. They’re most susceptible.

Some dry on there but I have also been trying to water and in return some of it gets wet, tonight I plan to full water with BTi.... Can I just water the DE in and forget about it or should I bother like trying to take it out ?

I would just add new, dry layers after the top layer dries. It’s otherwise good for the soil anyway. But I believe it needs to be dry to slice and dice the little bastards. BTi will get rid of them after a couple applications. Following directions from someone here, I used two drops per gallon on first application and then one drop per gallon every other watering to keep them away.

Roger that. Yea I have been watering locally around the seedling so there's a lot of dry DE around the pot. Unfortunately this stuff is not easy to use with a seedling and top watering lmao

Lots of good info here on sips. No gnats, and no over/under watering. First post on the thread is a 5 gallon bucket sip. I use 17 gallon totes for mine.
