Running LED with a HPS same tent.

I currently run a 1000w HPS in a 4x6 grow space and was thinking of purchasing some spider farmer lights to run along side of it. Can any members tell me what disadvantages I would come across running both lights in my space? I am kinda set on running the HPS until I definitely have enough light to replace it. The original plan was to run 2 1000w HPS lights but now I am getting worried about my hydro bill. Any insight would be helpful thanks :)

It's not like led are going to save you much in your position, I'd wait to fully convert unless your sure the SF will do the job with the HPS. A lot of 1000w equivalents are fucking hoping, they really aren't just cutting you to a minimal wattage.

Well what about this set up. 1000w HPS in the middle and a SF-2000 on either side. Or are you saying you wouldn't run LED and HPS at the same time. Sorry just a little confused with your reply. Thank you much for your time :)

Thought your hydro bill meant electricity bill, in your setup LEDs won't save much.

That's only 400w led, be like running 1400 HPS and some just depends how well you rate LEDs. Maybe the SF be hung closer than the 1000w a little but no reason it won't work. It won't be the same as two 1000w HP's or close I'm thinking.

Yep that's what I meant by hydro bill. Thank you for clearing up that confusion of mine.

You save 600 w but loose yield. 600w a day 12/12 is 7.2kw so guess 12 cent a kw still well under a dollar a day extra for the 1000w HP's over 2sf. You can do the maths, maybe under $30 a month but you loose a few ounces of the final yield.

The real savings on LEDs come when you replace 10000w of HP's with say 7000w of led not just a single light. In a year it could pay for itself but I don't care about that on a daily rate on a small grow.
