Running exhaust duct through drywall ceiling?

So I'm setting up my new room. My plan is to vent my exhaust from my 8" cool tube through the ceiling and then to a roof vent through the attic. I'm just curious about how to support the 8" flex ducting where it goes through the drywall ceiling? It would be nice if there was some kind of 'flange' a guy could screw to the ceiling and then just attach flex ducting on either side. Right now it looks like I will be running one piece of flex duct from my light through a hole in the ceiling to the roof vent. There has to be a better way?!

I work in construction, the 'flange' you speak of exists and would require a section of solid ducting. Roof vent is the way though.

Of course there is a better way. Lowes/Home Depot carries flanges made especially for that purpose in the HVAC section. Just ask a sales person to help you out. If you are running an inline fan, it can be supported with bungee cords from your roof trusses and you can hang your flexible ducting using zip ties,

You are going to use insulated flex RITE?
Just cut the hole in the sheetrock ceiling 3/8" bigger than the actual ducting itself( measure without insulation). It will stay put;-)
Use a circle cutter to trace/score the hole. Than a keyhole saw to cut.
Try it out first with a piece of scrap drywall.
And oh yeah, make sure and locate framing first.
